Charles Bailey’s hosts of friends

Perhaps the oldest person in
Butts county and one of the ol
dest in the countryis Uncle Jim
Andrews, colored, who will be 107
March 14. He lives on the farm
of Mi*. G. P. Saunders near here.
This aged negro was born on
March 14,1807, and lived through
practically all of the nineteenth
century and several years of
the twentieth century. He is
still active and strong and his
mind is bright and clear. He is
able to do considerable work and
seems good forrrtany years yet.
In the championship for the
“oldest inhabitant,” Uncle Jim
will rank high in the list of con
testants.

ed by the County Board of Edu
cation of Butts coifnty:
That, in Mr. Maddox’s death,
we have lost a painstaking, faith
ful public officer.
That each member of the
Board has lost a personal friend
and the town and county a ster
ling citizen.
That, to the bereaved wife and
children we extend our deepest
