CORN CROP OF 1915 !
The September report of the
Department of Agriculture e
timates the corn crop of the pres
ent year at 2,985,000,000 bushels,
or 312,000,000 bushels more than
the 1914 yield. That estimate
is based on an acreage increase
of nearly six millions and a con
dition average higher by seven
per cent than on September 1
last year. With one exception
1912, that is the greatest corn
yield of any year in the country’s
history, the high record yield
being 3,125,000,000 bushels. In
estimated production all of the
Southern states, with the excep
tion of Virginia, show large in
creases over last year, Texas and
Oklahoma together showing a to
tal gain of 116,000.000 bushels
over the 1914 yield. Michigan,
Wisconsin, lowa .and Minnesota
show heavy decreases; while
Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, Nebras
ka and Kentucky are among the
states reporting large increases.
