Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Guthrie, being
called to Jackson on account of
Mr. O’Rear’s illness.
Mrs. F. M. Allen went over
to Milledgeville Monday to be
present at the graduation of Miss
Fredna Allen, who has completed
the course at the Georgia Normal
& Industrial College.
Miss Julia Thornton, who was
en route to her home in Talla
poosa from Quitman where she
has been teaching, was the guest
of her sister, Mrs. Pitts McKib
ben, for the week-end.
Mrs. J. A. Jarrell. Misses Faith
and Allie Jarrell went to Barnes
ville Wednesday to attend the
funeral of Mrs. Jarrell’s brother
in-law, Mr. Alf Wellmaker, who
died Tuesday night at the age of
86, at his home in Barnesville.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank House and
children, of Altoona, Ala., Mrs.
J. B. Moore and little daughter,
of Baxley, Mr. and Mrs. L. E.
Walthall, of Atlanta, and Miss
La Rue Pope were week-end
guests of Mr. and Mrs. F. L.
Walthall.

Flag Day to Be Observed
in Brilliant Manner
The committee on arrange
ments from the D. A. R. chapter
has completed the program to be
carried out at the dedication ex
ercises of the Varner-Mclntosh
Memorial on Wednesday after
noon of next week at Indian
Springs. The exercises will be
held from four to six o’clock. The
State Regent, Mrs. Howard H.
McCall, of Atlanta, the vice pres
ident general. Mrs. Sheppard W.
Foster, also of Atlanta, have been
specially invited, as have also the
regents of the sixty-seven D. A.
R. chapters in the state. A large
delegation will go down from
Jackson to attend the exercises.
The public in general is invited.
