Mrs. Ida B. Stanton announces
the marriage of her daughter,
Mary, to Mr. Julian James Wil
lingham on Tuesday, the nine
teenth of December, nineteen
hundred and sixteen, Douglas,
Georgia.
This announcement is of cor
dial interest to the friends of
Mr. Willingham wlo formerly
resided in Jackson where he has
a large number of warm friends.

Miss Verna Moore, of Atlanta,

Mr. E. L. Hausler, of Arabi,
is visiting Mr. and Mrs. G. W.

Miss Sara Smith is at home
from Ward-Belmont college for
the holidays.
Mrs. R. H. Hendrson was
among the shoppers from Flo
villa, Tuesday.
Miss Jeannette Barkley and
Mr. W. M. Barkley were recent
visitors to Atlanta.
Miss Julia Brown’s many
friends are glad to know that she
is steadily improving since her
return from St. Joseph’s Infir
mary.

from Valdosta Saturday to spend
Christmas with relatives.
The W. M. U. will meet with Miss
Collier Wednesday afternoon.
I)r. Vandeventer, the pastor, will
preach at the Baptist church Sunday
afternoon at 3 o’clock.

Mayor Moore Wins Over
Senator Flercher

day, in which Jackson voters

Moore won over Senator H. M.
Fletcher by a vote of 145 to 110.
Messrs. C. T. Beauchamp, A.
T. Buttrill, J. B. Settle and R.
P. Sasnett were nominated as
aldermen.
By wards the vote for mayor
was as follows: First ward —
Moore 45, Fletcher 23; second
ward. Moore 56, Fletcher 36;
third ward, Moore 11, Fletcher;
fourth ward, Moore 33, Fletcher
24.
In the first ward the vote for
alderman stood: Ham 31, Beau
champ 38.
The vote in the second ward
was Buttrill 53. Leach 38.
J. B. Settle was un
opposed in the third ward.
In the fourth ward Alderman
Sasnett defeated Dr. R. .Gunter
29 to 27.
The only contest for school
trustee was in the second ward
where T. H. Buttrill won over
A R. Conner by the vote of 58
to 30.
Rather a small vote was cast,
due. in part, no doubt to the
wretched weather. The election
was a quiet affair and interest
was not as keen as in other pri
maries.
