Mr. and Mrs. Fred Thaxton en
tertained a few of their friends with
a delightful rook party on Monday
evening. Music and games were en
joyed during the earlier part of the
evening after which a delicious
salad course was served.

Miss Margaret Foster entertained
twenty of the school set with a
pretty party on Monday evening.
Christmas decorations made the
home unusually bright and attract
ive and merry games entertained the
happy young guests, a delightful
sweet course being served late in
the evening.
CHRISTMAS TREE AT PRESBY
TERIAN CHURCH
Enjoyable among the holiday fes
tivities was the Christmas tree given
by the Sunday School class of the
Presbyterian church Monday after
noon at 4 o’clock. The various class
es took part in the program, several
songs adding to the pleasure of the
occasion. A large number of gifts
were distributed by Santa Claus.
EGG NOGG PARTY
The Egg Nogg Party with which
Judge and Mrs. Henry M. Fletcher
entertained at their home on Third
street Christmas morning at ten
o’clock was the first of the many
interesting social events of the
week’s calendar, none of which
were more enjoyable than this de
lightful informal affair which gath
ered twenty-four of the most inti
mate friends of the popular couple.
METHODIST SUNDAY SCHOOL
HAS CHRISTMAS TREE
The annual Christmas tree of the
Methodist Sunday School was held
Friday night of the past week, with
all classes from the cradle roll to
the Juniors taking part. Santa
Claus remembered the children with
pretty and appropriate gifts, and a
short program of songs and recita
tions added to the pleasure of the
occasion.

Dr. and Mrs. James Edgar Woods
announce the engagement of their
daughter, Nellie Marie, to Mr.
Bruce Laßue Hafley, of Atlanta, the
date of the wedding to be announced
later.
This announcement, which ap
peared in Sunday’s papers, is of wide
interest to the many friends of the
popular bride-to-be in Jackson.
Miss HV oods is the accomplished and
talented daughter of Dr. and Mrs.
J. E. W’oods and is much admired
by all who know T her.
Mr. Hafley is a prominent young
business man of Atlanta.

Joel Mallet. Mr. Williams formerly
taught in the Jackson public schools.

Neal, of McDonough.
Mr. Morris Redman has accepted
a position in the Madison public
schools and will leave next week to
begin teaching. Mr. Redman taught
at Elgin during the fall months, and
friends are interested to know of his
promotion.
