Body of Soldier Who Died in Texas
Buried at Pepperton
The body of Mr. Charlie Turner, a
native of Pepperton, who died at Fort
Sam Houston, Texas, on February 3,
was brought to Jackson, and the fu
neral was held from the residence of
his brother, Mr. Luther Turner, Fri
day afternoon at 3 o'clock. Rev. S. R.
England of the Methodist church con
ducted the services. Interment was in

the United States army for some time,
and many friends here were sorry to
learn of his death while preparing for
service over seas.

GLASS MIXED WITH FEED
KILLS 17 ARMY HORSES
Waco, Texas, Feb. 10.—Ground
glass, mixed with feed, caused the
jdeath of seventeen horse# of a United
Stator infantry supply :ompany
which arrived here today from Fort
Oglethorpe, Ga., according to military
authorities. The animals were found
dead in the ears and a careful exami
nation of their feed disclosed the pul
verized glass. Government agents are
investigating.
WINTER EXTENSION SCHOOL

For the farmers of the sixth dis
trict the A. & M. school at Bames
ville will hold awinter extension school
on February 19, 20, 21 and 22, bring
ing to the school some of the best ag
ricultural leaders of the state.
The programs have been so arrang
ed as to be of interest to every mem
ber of the family. There will be dem
onstrations in farm drainage, pruning,

orchard management, poultry man
agement and in the control of plant
diseases. One of the features of the
course will be the “Food Conserva
tion School” whkh will be of especial
interest to women and to canning
club girls. '
Prof. Guy Firor, of the State Col
lege of Agriculture and extension
school director for the state, will have
charge of all the exhibits, announces
Mr. W. H- Maxwell, principal of the
agricultural school.
