attack for very long. For it takes only*
a little while to relieve ‘t and get back
on the road to recovery when Dr.
King’s New Discovery 13 faithfully
used. It soon loosens the phlegm, re

core throat, brings comfort.

HOW SHALL ONE CONFESS
CHRIST?
By Elam Franklin Dempsey, D. D.
Because there are other ways to
give testimony to Christ than by
speech, some have erroneously con
cluded that a silent Christian is jus
tifiable. No, God demands the testi
mony of the tongue as well as that
Forward!
With no thought of bursting shrap
nel and poisonous gases into which
they plunge—with every muscle tense,
with every faculty of mind alert,
with one thought only—TO FIGHT
AND WIN.
That is the way our men are going
into battle. When the shrill whistle
sounds the advance, out they go—their
whole heart in the task before them.
No power on earth can hold them back .
Forward!
The same sharp challenge to battle
is sounding for us. We must answer
in the same proud way—the way of
our fighting men—the American way.
lf r e must lend the way they fight.
We must show the war-maddened
Hun a united American people mov
ing forward shoulder to shoulder,
irresistibly, to Victory.
Our task is to supply the money,
the ships, the guns, the shells that we
must have to win. It is a tremendous
task. We must do it as our fighting
men do theirs—with the indomitable
spirit of Victory.
We must work, and save, and lend
with one thought only—TO FIGHT
AND WIN.
Get into the fight—with your whole
heart. Buy Bonds—to the utmost!

of the spirit, act, and habit. Shall He
who made the tongue not have the
mastery of it? Shall He who re
deemed the tongue have no praise
from it? The questions answer them
selves.
Back of the tongue is the mind and
back of the mind is the heart. If the
heart is full of love for God will not
the mind be full of thought in regard
to Him and veil not ..he full heart ut
ter itself 1 rough the tongue? We
know that the heart is before its re
generation, full of perverseness adn
disobedience toward God. But let it
flame with love because of the in
dwelling of the Holy Ghost and “out
of that fullness of the heart the
mouth speaketh” in witness to Christ.
Judgment is pronounced upon the
non-confessing Christian (Mt. 10:30-3
and James 1:25) because that silence
is a symptom of an unregenerate
heart. Of course, confessing Christ
i s quite a different thing from mere
“ability to talk religion.”

MILLS SLOW IN
j BUYING COTTON
This Action Said to Be

MARKET BUREAU’S CLAIM
BACK FROM WASHINGTON REP
RESENTATIVE OF MARKET
BUREAU URGES FARMERS TO
BE SLOW IN SELLING COTTON
Atlanta, Ga., Oct. 17.—Important
information bearing on the cotton
market and cotton crop, reaches the
state department of agriculture from
Washington. E. A. Calvin, special
representative of the Cotton States
Marketing Board, at the national cap
ital, Viired President J. J. Brown as
follows:
“It is reported that spinners are
adopting a hand-tolmouth policy, and
will buy sparingly and only as they
are compelled to have cotton. This,
with other things, will cause a limited
demand, and the farmers should
meet the situation by refusing to
sell until the spinners need the cot
ton and are willing to pay fair prices
for it. Farmers should not sacrifice
cotton merely because there is a com
bination trying to beat the price
down.”
Commenting on the foregoing dis
patch, Director L. B. Jackson of the
State Bureau of Markets, said:
“This bureau indorses what Mr.
Calvin says, and urges the farmers
to follow his advice. Only by mar
keting cotton gradually, can we hope
to get near its real value. It would
be better still, if the cotton were
held in the seed, as this will serve the
double purpose of strenthening the
cotton market and solving the acute
seed problem which is causing so
much concern, before it has opportu
nity to become more acute.”
