Last Rites For
Mr. Fletcher
On Wednesday
Funeral services for
Gerald B. Fletcher, 66, of 751
Woodley Drive NW, Atlanta,
were held Wednesday at
11:30 a.m. at Spring Hill with
the Rev. Charles L. Hagood
officiating.
Interment was in the
Jackson City Cemetery at 2
p.m. Christmas Eve under
the direction of Haisten
Brothers Funeral Home.
The son of a pioneer Butts
County family, his parents
were the late Thomas
Fletcher and Mrs. Maggie
Spencer Fletcher.
A retired professor of
textile engineering at Geor
gia Tech where he had been a
faculty member for over 20
yeacs and an advisor to Delta
KaPI ia Phi fraternity, he died
y.oniay after a brief illness.
Survivors include his
widow, the former Frances
Pound; sons, Gerald T.
Fletcher, of Charlotte, N. C.,
James R. Fletcher of
Augusta; sisters, Mrs. Edith
Echols of Jackson, Mrs. John
H. Haddock of Macon;
brother, H. M. Fletcher of
Jackson, three grandchil
dren, several nieces and
nephews.
Robert Taylor
Buried Friday
At Macedonia
Mr. Robert W. Taylor, Sr.,
73, of Route 2, Jackson, died
Tuesday night, December
23rd, about 10:30 o’clock at
Westbury Medical Care
Home after an extended
illness.
Born September 3rd, 1902
in Butts County, he was the
son of the late Mr. Jack
Taylor and the late Mrs.
Mattie Wilkerson Taylor.
He was a retired farmer
and member of Macedonia
Baptist Church.
Funeral services were
conducted Friday morning,
December 26th, at eleven
o’clock from the chapel of
Sherrell Funeral Home with
the Rev. R. W. Jenkins,
pastor of Macedonia Baptist
Church, officiating. Inter
ment was in Macedonia
Cemetery. Sherrell Funeral
Home was in charge of
arrangements.
Mr. Taylor is survived by
his wife, Mrs. Annie Maddox
Taylor of Jackson; two sons,
Robert W. (Bobby) Taylor,
Jr. of Jackson and Jack
Taylor of Atlanta; two
daughters, Mrs. Gloria May
hue of Gray and Mrs.
Marguerite McLees of Jack
son; ten grandchildren; two
great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Cliff
Taylor, Bill Taylor, Len
Taylor, Jimmy Cook, Ronald
Cook, Monte Mayhue, and
Chuck Mayhue.
Homer Gaston
Died Monday
In Louisiana
Funeral services for Mat
thew Homer Gaston, 72, of
Alexandria, Louisiana, a
brother of J. Avon Gaston of
Jackson, were held Tuesday,
December 23rd from the
Chapel of Hixon Brothers
Funeral Home in Alexandria.
The Hev. Jerry Tabler and
Dr. J. B. Jung officiated.
Mr. Gaston, a native of
Jackson, died Monday morn
ing at the Rapides General
Hospital in Alexandria. He
was a long-term employee of
the South Central Bell
Telephone Company and was
retired as defense coordina
tor for the company.
3e was a member of the
>t Presbyterian Church of
Alexandria and of the Oliver
Lodge No. 84, F & AM.
Surviving besides his
brother is a sister, Mrs.
Henry Irby of Atlanta.
IN MEMORIAL
In loving memory of our
dearly beloved father and
husband. Charles D. King,
who passed away a year ago,
December 20, 1974.
Sadly missed by wife,
Shirley, and children.
