NEWS from your J
PHARMACIST /
Hoard
It appears that overdoses
of barbiturates (sleeping
pills and sedatives) is much
more commonplace now than
it was in the past. It is a good
idea to know how to
administer firgt aid to a
person who has suffered an
overdose of barbiturates. Of
course, you should notify a
physician and get profes
sional medical aid as soon as
possible.
In the meantime, you
should induce vomiting if the
individual is conscious. This
can be followed by strong
coffee. If the person is
unconscious, you should
administer artificial respira
tion. In this case, do not try to
give the victim anything to
induce vomiting. Hopefully,
you will never be faced with
this situation, but it certaily
doesn’t hurt to be prepared.
Drugs are not playthings.
Drugs are medical tools.
That is the reason we always
prepare prescriptions with
the utmost care. Our regis
tered pharmacists compound
prescriptions promptly and
accurately.
