FRESH FLOWERS
A bouquet of fresh flowers
adds beauty to any room of
your home. If you want to
make flowers from your
yard or garden last longer
after you cut them try the
following suggestions. Gath
er the flowers early in the
morning. Cut the stems
diagonally with a sharp knife
and remove any foliage that
will be in the water. Wash the
container in boiling water
and then put very hot water
in it. Drop the stems in the
hot water and let the flowers
stand for several hours
before making your arrange
ment. Remember that un
even numbers of flowers
make the prettiest arrange
ments.
STORING WINTER
GARMENTS
If you have not prepared
your winter clothes for
storage you need to do this
task soon. All clothes need to
be cleaned before storage
and some garments need
special attention. Suede,
leather or fur garments need
to be wrapped in an old sheet

or placed in a fabric clothes
bag for storage during the
summer. These materials
are porous and need to
breathe, and sealed plastic
bags will suffocate them. A
down-filled jacket needs to
breathe too so store it flat in a
box, leaving some room
around the jacket. You do not
want to pack it tightly.
Storing your clothes properly
now will make you happy
with the results when you
unpack them next fall or
winter.
DID YOU KNOW???
-It is best not to keep fats
and oils in partially filled
containers. To eliminate air
space, transfer to another
container and the fats and
oils will keep longer.
-To keep eyes from
watering while cutting
onions, slice or cut them
under cold, running water.
Slice the onion from top
rather than root end.
-To keep from tearing the
meringue when slicing pies,
brush the sides of the knife
with cooking oil before
cutting.

about building
a building?
You've got your lot. now what? Well, there are clearances,
permits, rights-of-way, planning, budgeting, designing, con

ing, interior finishing, grounds work, landscaping, etc., etc.
You can learn about all these things yourself. Or you can
get in touch with us. We take care of every detail —from the
first steps to the last. As much as you want us to handle,
we’ll handle. So give us a call when you’re ready to build.
