Coming Sunday
The First Baptist Church of
Jackson will observe annual
Homecoming Day Sunday.
The day will begin at 9:45
with Sunday School and C. L.
Sanvidge, director of the
Sunday School, invites every
one to attend Bible study.
Rev. Donald Folsom, pas
tor, invites everyone to
attend and especially to be
present for the morning
worship service which begins
at 11 o’clock. The adult choir
under the direction of Joe
Borden will lead in the music
for the day.
At the morning worship the
new Altex Sound system will
be dedicated.
Dinner will be served in the
Fellowship Hall following the
service. The day will be
concluded with the evening
worship service at seven
o’clock at which time the
young people will be in
charge of the service, under
the direction of Brad Smith,
summer youth director. The
public is invited to attend any
or all of these services.

Many Local and Area CETA
Jobs To Be Filled Soon
Jerry Buffington, manager
of the Georgia Department of
Labor Office in Griffin,
announced today that new
funds have become available
under the Comprehensive
Employment and Training
Act (CETA) for the Mclntosh
Trail Area.
Many new positions have
been created by these new
funds and the Georgia
Department of Labor Em
ployment Service is making
an all-out recruitment effort
to fill these positions.
Among the new positions
that are to be filled in Butts
County are 10 county
laborers, six road mainten
ance laborers, two home
maker aides and eight
general maintenance and
custodial workers (part
time).
The basic eligibility re
quirements established to
qualify persons interested in
applying for these positions
is that a person must be a
member of a family whose
income is at or below 70 per
cent of the lower living
standard income level, or
poverty level, and be
unemployed for at least
fifteen (15) weeks or be a
member of a family receiv
ing aid to families with
dependent children.
Individuals that meet these
eligibility requirements can
apply for these positions at

SERVICES FRIDAY
Graveside services for
Adam Lofton, infant son of
Mr. and Mrs. Dexter Lofton,
were conducted Friday after
noon at four o’clock in
Jackson City Cemetery, with
Rev. Chuck McCrackin offi

The child died late Thurs
day night at Griffin-Spalding
County Hospital.
