To rise above your own
problems and help another is
an admirable quality, one
that Lether McCord, chair
man of the 1977 Breath of Life
campaign, hopes will be
displayed by many residents
in the Butts County area.
“I’m looking for people
who will give a little of their
time and talent so that
millions of lung-damaged
children across the United
States can live longer and
more normal lives,” said
Mrs. McCord.
Volunteers are needed to
conduct the CF Breath of Life
door-to-door campaign,
which annually raises much
needed funds to support
research, care and education
programs aimed at improv
ing the-lives of children with
all lung-damaging diseases.
Cystic Fibrosis, which is
inherited and incurable, is
the most serious of all
pulmonary diseases in child
ren.
The annual campaign
provides funds for the Cystic
Fibrosis Foundation to con
tinue sponsoring research to
find a better control or cure
for C.F. Contributions also
help to support over 100
Cystic Fibrosis Centers in the
country which specialize in
the diagnosis and treatment
of children with cystic
fibrosis, as well as those
suffering with diseases like
severe asthma, chronic bron
chitis, bronchiectasis and
recurrent pneumonia.
Education of lung
damaging diseases, oriented
both to the public and
medical professional also
rank high among the Breath
of Life funded programs of
the National Voluntary
health organization.
