Duggan Entertains Teachers A beautiful event of last Tuesday afternoon was the reception given by Mrs. 1). E. Duggan at her home in honor of Misses Smith, (Dimes, Lawton, Blackshear, Wright, Ben nett, and Mrs. Began. The house was beautifully decorated in ferns, cut roses, and carnations, the color scheme being pink and white. Mi*s. Duggan was assisted in receiv ing by Mrs. T. D. Walker, .Jr., Mrs. J. H. Mullis, and Mrs. 11. F. Bullard, while Mrs. J. B. Peacock presided at the punch bowl and dainty refreshments were served by Mrs. M. Beeves aiid Miss Began. Among those present were Mes dames'Hugles, John Walker, Har vard, J. N. Wynne, J. M. Wynne, J. Urquhart, N. L. Taylor, M. Coleman, B. Thompson, .T. Dun ham, J. Meadows, Mcßae, Todd, Parks, B. Peacock, A. P. Urquhart, Misses Harvard, Laura Wynne, Hopkins, A. Walker, S. Mullis, and Dunham. A Large Hawk • Mr. W. D. One ’possum was caught and besides this excit ing pleasure a midnight feast was partaken of by the party using the wagon body as a table. Among those in the party were Misses Anne Walker, Ina Wright, Gladys Har vard, Hennie and Lily Hendricks, Clarence Mae Helmes, Kittie Bai ley, H azel Wynne, Minta McVay, Mary Lamb, Annie Helmes, and Mattie Smith, Messrs. Browning. Mrs. A. P. Grimsley returned home Saturday from Sanderviile, where she spent several weeks with her daughter, Mrs. Jamison. Miss Pearl Peacock, of Macon, spent several days with her mother, Mrs. Bettie Peacock. Hugh Taylor, of Macon, spent Sunday in the city. Mr. S. T. C. Murry and family have moved to Albany. It is with regret that we give up this good family, but wish them happiness and prosperity in their new home. Mr. Murray was one of the pioneer settlers of our city, having moved here about 30 years ago. Mr. M. Adams, and Mrs. Chas. Tillery, of Wood berry, are the guests of their brother, Mr. Geo. C., are holding a rummage sale every Friday and Saturday in the build ing next door to the Union Ware house. Your patronage will he highly appreciated and any dona tion will he graciously received by them. On Fridays or Saturdays a wag on will go to each residence asking for donations. Blankenship brought in two stems of velvet beans con taining 4(> healthy pods of these beans. These beans were grown between corn rows and were so prolific that Mr. Blankenship could hardly gather bis corn. The beans are an excellent food stuff for stock and are very easly grown. They also are a great land improver Mr. Blankenship says he is well pleased with the Journal and found it much better than he expected when he subscribed; says he does n’t see how he could well do with out it.
