this disease, is the subject of an In

being gathered from thousands of
ministers regarding this subject, and
among other figures the number of

It is planned to place these statistics,

EASY CHANGE
When Coffee Is Doing Harm.
A lady writes from the land of cot
ton of the results of a four years’ use
of the food beverage—hot Postum.
“Ever since I can remember we had
used coffee three times a day. It had
a more or less injurious effect upon
us all, and I myself suffered almost
death from indigestion and nervous
ness caused by it.
“I know it was that, because when
I would leave it off for a few days I
would feel better. But It was hard to
give it up, even though I realized how
harmful it was to me.
“At last I found a perfectly easy
jway to make the change. Four years
Ago I abandoned the coffee habit and
to drink Postum, and I also in
fluaiced the rest of the family to do
the dime. Even the children are al
lowed to drink it freely as they do
water. And it has done us all great
good.
“I no longer suffer from indigestion,
and my nerves are in admirable tone
since I began to use Postum. We
never use the old coffee any more.
“We appreciatae Postum as a de
lightful and healthful beverage, which
not only invigorates but supplies the
best of nourishment as well.” Name

Americas.—Forty thousand dollars
was the handsome price just paid for
a fine Sumter county farm by a South
Carolinia attracted to this section, the
Egypt of Georgia, as have been sc
many other thrifty farmers of the
Palmetto state, now happy and pros
perous property owners here. This
latest deal was the sale ot a portion
of the L. A. Thomas farm, west ol
Americas, and consists of about 1,501
acres, to J. Luther Mayer of Newber

Washington, 1). C.—Population sta
tistics for the following places were
made public by the census bureau.
In Georgia: Stellarville, Jefferson
county, 149; Wrens, 616; Ixniisville
1,039; Wadley, 872; Bartow,, 355;

Augusta.—A contract has been let
by the chief of engineers of the Unit
ed States army for the protection ol
the Savannah river bank at Augusts
against the erosions made by the wa
ter every time the river rises to any
considerable extent. During the flood
of 1908 great inroads were made by
the water. The rip-rapping of tne
river bank for a half mile was decid>
ed upon as the only method of pre
venting further Erosions, and the city
of Augusta will contribute $125,000
and the government $125,000 to have
this work done.
Barnesville.—The business men ol
Barnesville have raised a fund oi
about S2OO for the purpose of offering
prizes for the best results from the
cultivation of one acre of corn and
one acre of cotton to be grown with
in eight miles of the city. The mat
ter was suggested a few days ago and
the money was cheerfully made up.
The details of the contest will be
announced later, but first, second ana
third prizes will probably be offere-.

This matter will be definitely settleo

the residence of Mrs. .1. B. Murray.
The aged woman had been complain

imposed on her son last week in Bibb

Augusta.—Officers of Richmond
county and the city of Augusta' are
denounced for lax enforcement ot
the state prohibition law in the pre
sentments of the grand jury. Tne
grand jury states that the officers
have not done, their duty; that crime
nas increased rather than diminishea
ever since the enactment of the pro
hibition law, and it strongly recom
mends that the officers break up the
blind tigers. The presentments state
that although there is a large per
centage of Augusta’s population op
posed to a prohibition law, still it
should be enforced.
Gainesville. —What is believed to be
the speediest murder trial ever record

Leonard Worley was sentenced for
life on the charge of mm dering his
brother, E. S. Worley, a few weeks
ago. The jury's verdict of guilty was
read by the court just thirty minutes
after the proceedings had started.

Washington, D. C— Population sta

nounced, included: Tifton, Ga., 1910,
2,381; 1900, 1,384.
Thomaston. —The peach crop is go
ing to be short in Upson county tnis
year. This is a certainty, because
there will be a large number of trees
less than heretofore. Thousands ol
peach trees have been pulled up and
cut down in this vicinity by the or
chard owners. Some have destroyed
a part, and others have cut down all
of their orchards. The disastrous re
suits of last season’s crop is respon
Bible for this -step on the part of the
peach growers, and it is not probable
that the trees being destroyed now
will ever be replanted, certainly not
by the present owners.
STONE IN BLADDER REMOVED
WITHOUT SURGICAL OPERATION
In the Spring of 1904, I was confined to
my bed with kidney trouble and thought
that I would never recover. I took a lot
of medicine but did not realize any benefit
from anything. I finally saw a Dr. Kilmer’s
Swamp-Root advertisement and sent for a
sample bottle and thought the sample
helped hie, so I bought more of the medi
cine frem my Druggist, and after using a
few bottles discharged a very large stone
from my bladder. After passing this stone
my health was very much improved and I
have been able to contipue with my busi
ness without any serious sickness.

BURDENS LIFTED FROM BAD BACKS
Weary is the back that bears the burden of kidney ills. There’s no rest or peace for the man or
woman who has a had back. The distress begins in early morning. You feel lame and not refreshed.
It’s hard to get out of bed. It hurts to stoop to tie your shoes. All day the ache keeps up. Any sudden
movement sends sharp twinges through the hack. It is torture to stoop and straighten. At night the suf
ferer retires to toss and twist and grown. Backache is kidney ache—a throbbing, dull aching in the kid
neys. Plasters or liniments won’t do. You must get at the cause, inside.

That Essential Struggle.
There are men who go through life
without ever getting what one would
call a throw-down or set-back—they
never get to know what it means to

way is slicked and paved. They seem
to miss the one great essential thing
