Particularly the Ladies.
Not only pleasant and refreshing to
the taste, but gently cleansing and sweet
ening to the system. Syrup of Figs and
of Senna is particularly adapted
HKadies and children, and beneficial in
cases in which a wholesome, strength
ening and effective laxative should be
used. It is perfectly safe at all times and
dispels colds, headaches and the pains
caused by indigestion and constipation so
.promptly and effectively that it is the one
family laxative which gives satis
faction to all and is recommended by
Trillions of families who have used it and
who have personal knowledge of its ex
cellence.
Its wonderful popularity, however, has
led unscrupulous dealers to offer imita
tions which act unsatisfactorily. There
fore, when buying, to get its beneficial
effects, always note the full name of the
Company—California Fig Syrup Co. —
plainly printed on the front of every

HEAD SOLID MASS OF HUMOR
"I think the Cuticura Remedies are
the best remedies for eczema I have

was awful, the child cried continually.

MUST PAY STATE DEBT.
Supreme Court Decides West Virginia
Owes Virginia $7,182,507.
Washington.—Sitting in the unusual
capacity of a hoard of auditors, the
Supreme court of the United States
computed that tile state of West Vir
ginia was under obligations to pay
over $7,000,000 of the $33,000,000 debt
or Virginia, which existed when the
new state was formed. It was the
biggest problem in arithmetic the Su
preme court has had to handle in
many years. The exact figure held by
the court to be the proper proportion
of the old debt which West Virginia
is under obligation to bear was $7,-
152.507.
• Ever since the Civil war the com
monwealth of Virginia has been eu
deavoring to collect from West Vir
ginia what the former claimed was
the latter's share of the old state’3
debt. West Virginia was said to have
acknowledged her liability in the •'or
dinance of Wheeling" before she was
admitted to the Union and in her
state constitution.
Finally, when the payment was not
made, Virginia brought suit in the
Supreme court.

Preacher’s Views Cause Sensation.
Knoxville, Tenn. —In a meeting of
the Knoxville Church Federation Dr.
.1 J. Taylor, pastor of the First Bap

the following declaration: "The
church has no right to make a man
go to church if he prefers 10 go to
a baseball game, and it is an individ
ual matter what a man shall do with
his Sundays. If persons play gelt
cr baseball or eat ice cream, the
church has no right to call a police
man and have them locked up. It is
not the church's business.
SO Persons Die in Fire.
