tarium in Atlanta for several weeks
and underwent a serious operation

much improved and is looking for

Our noyy county question came up
before the Committee on Constitu
tional amendments three o’clock P.
M. Monday, and passed by a vote
of eleven to seven. Our side was
ably presented by Representative
Joel T. Deese, Prof. Leo H. Brown
ing, ai d Herbert L. (irice. Sena
tor Williams from this district also
spoke in our favor. The opposition
was represented by Howard Coates
and J. E. Laidler. Representatives
Lovejoy ami .Toe Hill Hull made

A delegation of several citizens
from both Hawkinsville and Coch
ran went up to the hearing.

Prominent Fami
ly Reunion.
The Wynne family, among whom
are our best and mo.-t prominent
j citizens, had a happy family re-
J union here in Oak (trove l’a-k on
Dublin street last Friday. The
progenitor of this large and worthy
family was Prof. Morgan Wynne,
deceased, who was a kind, lovable,
and,sincere Christian gentleman.
He was an ‘old field school” teach
er and for many years contributed
to the educational and moral uplift
of this community; and his descend
ants are wor by representatives of
this goof! man.

of Hawkinsville; T. H. Wynne and

Coleman--Dunham
Our genial and popular postmas
ter, W. E. Dunham, was married
to Mrs. Mollie Coleman at Mcßae,
Ga. Wednesday. They came to
Cochran on the 3:10 p. m. train
and will be at home to their many
friends at the groom’s residence on
Dublin street.
Mrs. Coleman was the widow of
the late J. G. Coleman, is an excel
lent lady —well known here, —and
lias a host of friends. The groom
is one of our best and most highly
esteemed citizens.

vited guests were present.
At noon the long tables in the
grove were loaded with good things
to eat —just such a dinner as this
family is noted for preparing,—and
it is needless to say every one pres
ent enjoyed it immensely.

Motion carried that Mr. Dyar’s

An Ordinance
The following ordinance was in
troduced by Alderman C. T. Hall:
Be it ordained by the Mayor and
Alderman of the City of Cochran,
Pulaski County, Georgia that an
ad valorem tax, of fourteen mills on
the dollar for the year 1011, lie and
the same is hereby levied upon all
the property, both real and person
al, within -the corporate limits of
said City of Cochran, in the follow
ing amounts and purposes to wit:
Six and one-half mills on the
dollar for the purpose of raising
revenue for the support and main
ainance of the government of the
City of Cochran.
Four miils on the dollar for the
purpose of establishing and main
taining Public Schools in said City
of Cochran.
Three and one-half mills on the
dollar for the purpose of paying the
interest on the outstanding bonds,
and to provide and maintain a sink
ing fund to pay off said bonds as
they mature.
The adoption of the foregoing or
dinance was moved by Alderman
T. L. Bailey which said motion
was seconded by Alderman H. F.
Builard; wherepun the Mayor pre
siding put the motion with the fol
lowing result:

Whereupon, the motion was declar
ed carried and the said ordinance
was adopted this July 2<sth, 1911.

Motion carried that Cochran Cot
to.. Mill Co.’s taxes be reduced to
850,000.
Motion carried that a special tax
be placed on each insurance com
pany of any kind soliciting business
within the incorporate limits of the.
City of Cochran.
On motion Council adjourned.
