Lyceum Attraction
Much Appreciated
The tirst number of the Lyceum
Course was rendered by the Euclid
Male Quartett at the School Audi
torium Wednesday night and was a
great success. It was greeted by an
enthuisastic and appreciative audi
ience. Each meml>er was an artist
in his roll and the audience as a
whole was delighted with the enter
tainment.
The entertainments given by the
Lyceum Course are all clean and
elevating. They cater to the highei
ideals in matters of amusement and
cultivate a taSte for the best class of
entertainment that is being given to
the public.
It is absolutely necessary that we
should seek some wholesome diver
sions and looking forward to the
next numbers of the lyceum Course
will get Jin each number not only
our money’s worth in an afternoon
of enjoyment but will create in us a
desire always for the best.
T. H. Bennett Moves
To Ocala, Florida
Mr. T. II Bennett, who has been
engineer on the llawkinsville
Branch for nearly twenty-live years,
la s left the employe of the road and
has moved to Ocala. Fla., where he
hits purchased a large Coco Cola
plant. Mr. Bennett was one of the
Southern's most trusted employees,
was very popular with the ollicials
of the road as well as his fellow em
ployees.
Personally Mr. Bennett is an ex
cellent gentleman, lie has been
successful as a business man and
owns considerable property in
llawkinsville. He is well known
in Cochran and lias many friends
here who regret to see him leave
Georgia. The Journal wishes him
mueh success in the land of flow

G. W. Jordan Elected
Mayor Of Hawkinsville
Hon. (5. \V. Jordon was elected
Mayor of Hawkinsville Wednesday,
without opposition. Messrs. Poole,
Jelks, and Delamar were elected
Aldermen
Mr. Jordan was a former citizen
of that part of Pulaski County
wliioh is now.Bleckley County. He
was raised on the Jordan plantation
near old Evergreen Baptist Church.
He represented Pulaski County in
the Georgia Legislature and made a
strong, fearless and incorruptible
public servant. We congratulate
the City of Hawkinsville on her
ejection and venture to say that
Walker Jordan will make a good
mayor who will enforce the law and
have the nerve to do the right thing
as he sees it.
New Barber Shop
J. C. Bishop has rented the office
owned by D*. J. A. George and
will open a first class barber shop.
This is a splendid location.
This building has been occupied
by Dr. J. A. George and Col. J. C.
Linney. Col. Linney has moved to
an office above Jackson Furniture
Company and Dr. George will build
another office for his own use on
the lot adjoining his present build
ing or on another lot.

Cochran Fruit & Candy Company,
lias just returned from a business
trip to Atlanta, Savannah, Macon,
Jacksonville, New York, extending
over a peroid of 15 days and during
this time lias purchased several car
loads of the very choicest fruit and
candy obtainable in America.
He informs us that he has bought
this fruit at a price that will enable
him to supply his patrons with fruit
and candy at the lowest prices ever
obtainable in this section.
Another Herd Of Hogs
For Fairview Farm
J. P. andjW. 11. Peacock have
just returned from Nashville, Tenn.,
where they purchased the entire
herd of Gilloek & Miller’s Du roc
Jersey liog-i, consisting of 11 inety
head.
These hogs arc all well bred and
selected an* l among them are many
prize winners. They are expected
to arrive in Cochran next Saturday.
Greatest eare has been used in the
selection of these hogs in an effort
to give Fairview farm the best of
breeding.
We shall only mention a few of
the prize winners in this lot as we
have but little space just before go
ing to press.
Col. (!. by Col. S. lias been a
consistent winner from under six
months until an aged Inur in
Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia and
at Tri-state fairs.
Among the sows the following
blood lines are represented: Defen
des, Superber, Tippy Colonel and
Top Cononel. A better herd has
never been brought south. The
same lines of breeding are now
represented in nil the leabing herds
of the Ninth.
Fairview Farm has previously
purchased one of the best young
boars in Auditor sired by tax payer.
This boar comes from one of the
test herds of Durocs in tho United
States and in only medium flesh
won first and junior Champion at
the Georgia State Fair. He was
litter mate to first gilt and junior
Champion of Ohio State Fair.

Revolutionary soldiers Graves and
historic sites in Bleckley county.
Suitable mark will be furnished free
for these, l>y the government,
Should any be found. Please send

man of committee on historic sites
and monuments. This information
will not only serve as a splendid
aid to the D. A. R. in tliier wo k
