It is going to be the prettiest city in the State of Georgia. The Ladies Civic League have appointed a commit tee to beautify each street. Trees and shrubbery will be planted. Lattice work will he erreeted on each side of the bridges that span the big ditch and seats will lie pro vided where you can rest and ad mire the beauties of the *‘big ditch”. Just think of it the ladies are surely going to transform that big ditch which was once an eye sore and a disgrace to the town, to a thing of beauty and it is sanitary too. The ditch has been cleaned out. It drains nicely an l you no longer hear of it being a menace to the health of the city. And by the way our town has been unusually healthy this year. But don’t stop at what we have done, just remem ber we must have sanitary closets and a street sprinkler. The ladies say we a*e going to have the pretti est town in Georgia, and we must have the cleanest town in Georgia. When we have the prettiest, cleanest and healthiest town in Georgia with every modern conven ience and educational advantage, people will just have to move to Cochran. They will fall over each other getting here. The main thing just now is to provide for new comers. We should have a live real estate agency here that can se cure building lots at reasonable prices. The creating of the new County of Bleckley, the good cotton crop this year with a fair price, has given a lively impetus to business in our city, but lookout people, there is danger of putting too high a valuation on city lots and raising rents. When a property owner asks much or more for a lot than it will cost to erect a nice dwelling on it the would-be purchaser is sure to become discouraged and will proba bly conclude not to build.
