Miss Annette McLean is spending a
few days at home from Wesleyan.
Col. and Mrs. L. D. Luke announce
the arrival of a boy at their home.
Mrs. J. T. Relihan and Mr. Morris
Relihan have returned from Valdosta.
Little Briggs Caldwell fell from the
porch on Wednesday and broke his
arm.
Mr. and Mrs. J. I. Smith announce
the recent arrival of a son at their
home.
Mrs. L. M. Breen is visiting relatives
in Waycross. Her father is quite ill
there.
Miss Mary Strozier, of Macon, spent
three days this week with Miss Nancy
Bennett.
Miss May Williamson has as her
guest 'this wfcek her mother from
Brunswick.
Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Powers an
nounce the arrival of a new son at
their home.
Mrs. W. E. Caldwell was the guest
of her father, Judge G. R. Briggs
Thursday.
Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Wilcox spent
several days last week in Valdosta
with relatives.
Mr. J. H. Rogers, of Mcßae, was
the guest of his brother, Mr. W. L.
Rogers Wednesday.
Mrs. T. S. Price is spending the
week-end at Macon with Miss Lillian
Price at Wesleyan College.
Miss Mary Stanton has been teach
ing the sth grade this week for Miss
May Williamson, who was ill.
Mrs. H. M. Love, Miss Nancy Ben
nett and Mrs. W. L. Rogers spent Sat
urday in Fitzgerald shopping.
Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Ashley and Mr.
and Mrs. D. C- Ashley, of Valdosta, at
tended the fungal of Mr. J. M. Ashley
on Monday.
Messrs. Jno. M. Hall, C. T. Darley
and A. L. Ponder attended the Grand
Lodge of masons in Macon this week.

Miss Lillian Goodyear accompained
Mrs. Tom Dent and Mr. Fisher Dent
to visit an oculist at Waycross this
week.
There were many out of town people
who attended the Ashley funeral on
Monday, all of which goes to show the
high esteem in which he was eld.
Little Carolyn Deen entertained a
number of her friends Thursday in
honor of her eighth birthday. Ice
cream and cake was served and dainty
little favors given.
The ladies of the Methodist Mis
sionary Society are especially inviting
ladies of other denominations to at
tend the Weefc of Prayer, beginning
Monday and lasting through Wednes
day.
Two of the Baptist ladies are com
piling a cook book of tried receipts,
which have been contributed by ladies
of the town. When completed the
book will be sold at the Fair, and the
proceeds presented Circle No. 4 for the
fund they are raising on the church
debt.
ST. ANDREWS CHURCH.
There will be servces in St. An
drew’s church next Sunday Nov. 5, at
11 a. m. and 7:30 p. m. The Rt. Rev.
F. F. Ruse, D. D. bishop of Georgia,
will be present and preach at the
evening service.

A frosty colored cow, dehorned, with
mark of underbit in one ear and upper
square in other, has been found at my
house and has been here two months.
The owner may have same by promply
indentifying her and coming after her
and paying all damages. Unless
some one comes she will be sold un

FOR THE WEEK
Woman’s Club.
The few members of the Woman’s
Cub who were absent at teir regular
meeting Thursday, missed a great
treat in the intensely interesting pro
gram, which was carried out. A study
of Sidney Lanier was the Literary
feature of the afternoon, and a sketch
of his life and character given by
Mrs. Melvin Tanner was possibly the
best essay ever spoken before the
Club.
Next an exellent reading on the
literary productions of Lanier by Mrs.
Quincey was very intertaining.
Miss Grace Gaffney delighted the
ladies with the “Song of the Chatta
hoochee’’ and last though not least
was the most interesting report from
the Federation by the delegate, Mrs.
J. M. Hall.
The Club is making a good start for
the new year as almost the entire

The regular meeting of the U. D. C.
was called for Wednesday afternoon
at the Auditorium, and on account of

to attend.
| A cross of honor was bestowed on

veteran. Major Burke and Judge
were visitors during hte afternoon.
A short historical program was car
ried out, also an interesting reading
“Lee to the Rear” gven by Mrs. Quin
cey.
The members thoroughly enjoyed
| Mrs. Hall’s report of the convention
I at Dublin, and regretted that Colum

in asking for the convention next year.
