val shows near the court house the
Broxton fair. Well, it strikes us
as an unkind thing for Broxton to
send it here after our people had
been there to see it.
Corn will pop more successfully
if moistened first, after putting it
in the popper, pour over it a cup
ful of water, shake the drops off,
and pass the popper a minute or
two high over the fire to let the ker
nels swell, then hold them near the
coals to pop.
Conmlaint reaches us from par
ties living in certain parts of the
city, because the water-pipes are
not extended along the streets on
which they live. This could not
be done with the amount of cap
ital raised by the late bond issue
vo*ed upon by the people, but the
pipes are left in a condition for ex
tension in the future.
In the guessing contest for the
Passes over the Douglas, Augusta
& Gulf Railway. Air. Wm. Kirk
land Douglas Ga., guessed the ex
act number of Passengers carried
August 1904 and gets the Annual,
his guess was 1792. Mr. Joe
Maine, Kirkland, Ga., the next
nearest and gets the trip Pass.
Plis guess was 1787.
Postmaster Boone, of Hazle
hurst, was in town last Monday
and called at the Breeze office. Pie
was on his return from Irwin coun
ty, whither he had been to get the
ten year old child of editor Boone,
late of this place, who had been
staying with Mr. Paulk, her step
grand father, since her grand
mother’s death. He left for Ila
zlehnrst Tuesday morning.

The Douglas Post Office-
The outfiit is new, but it does
business at the old stand with a
combination system that carries a
stem-winder and setter attachment,
shuttles and bodkin to each locked
box. Sunday school children are
not admitted until after mail hours.
But Douglas has now one of the
prettiest, best arranged post offices
in the State. All new boxes, ar
ranged in a triangular shape, de
livery windows, &c., inconvenient
from, giving more than twice as
many boxes, and in such a manner
as to divide the crowd. Post mas
ter Touchton and his assistants are
better able now to attend to busi
ness and the patrons are all highly
pleased.
Death of Mrs- Clements.
Mrs. Belle Clements died last
Monday morning, of pneumonia,
in her 28th year, after a short
illness. She leaves a husband and
two little girls, Ethel and Agnes.
Mrs. Clements was the wife of
Willie Clements, the daughter of
Jacob Anderson, and the sister of
Mrs. M. D. Stephens, of Douglas,
Mrs. B. A. Clements, of Leliaton
and Miss Lucy Anderson, of near
Kirkland. She had a host of
friends who will regret to learn of
her death. Her remains were in
terred at Arna church, Reside her
infant babe. * * *
