It has been our privilege In con
vene intimately with many of (lie
computed populists of the county, and
without a single f xception they were
men who have always been dcnioernte
until the last election, when certain
irregularities of the democratic party
drove them into the populistic, ranks.
These men were reared in the dem
ocratic party, tley were nurtured
under democratic principles, and any
Other faith or principle is absolutely
foreign to their nature. When thev
see tiro demorratp fall solidly into
line again and stand hon ‘ally and
sfjuarely on democratic principle*,
they will as miturallv drop into its
ranks as (hoy voted with it iu the
years agoue.
They do not desire to see the prin
ciples they were t night to revere fall
into weakness and disrepute. They
are not anxious to behold the party

tied to a party which at least promis

When such individuals (and there

the party of their fathers once mote
assume that Wonlod unity and
strength and lift up its banners of
hum rand fairness and start forth on
a compaign of glorious victory, it is
most certain that they "'ill let go the
false policies of a dreaming contin

horns of reality and return to a natur

In reality, the populist party holds
out nothing for out people hut the
vagaries of restless minds. It was
horn in restlessness and its ideas are
the output o.t discontent and unrest.

when there is no sorrow.
Our people ha”c no real grievance ;
for they arc intiitticlv better olf than
