The Savannah News’ Waycross
correspondent says:
The rails and cross-ties for the
building of three miles of rairoad have
been received at Nichols by the Way
cross Air Line railway, and work will
he started in a short time on the ex
tension of the railroad from Nichols
to within ten miles of Douglas. The
Air Line railroad is at present about
thirty-two miles long, Nichols being
the northern terminus. It is about
thirteen miles from Nichols to Doug
las, and on the completion of the three
miles of road from Nichols the compa
ny will probably make an effort to ex
tend the line’to Douglas.
The simple statement is made in
the Leader of last week that their
claim of having the largest circulation
in the county “is based on facts”.
This is all they offer in reply to our
challenge to compare lists. This “evi
dence of facts” cannot he proven, and
we dare them to attempt it. This
matter should he settled, and the
proper way to do it is to produce pa
per bills, post-office receipts or com
pare books. We care nothing about
how many subscribers the Leader has
got, hut in justice to ourselves we do
not propose to permit this little “pat
ent outside,” populist-by-contract pa
per to publicly claim that they have
a larger list of subscribers than the
Breeze. We will not permit this
grossly misleading stathmemt to
stand.
