country is over. Coffee county
wants one thousand ot them, this
is the land of the free and the home
of the Boer, lie can live here torever,
and won’t want to leave any more.

There was never a time in the
life of Coffee county when she had
better time than the present to
make a long stride in the direction
of education and general improve
ment than the present. Ignorance
and vice have always clogged the
wheels of advancement in every
direction, and always will do so.
Ignorance causes vice, vice fills the
courts with obstactes. the jails with
prisoners, the chain gangs with
wretched man hood and the land
with disgraced wives and children
and hopeless out casts from heaven
and society.

cannot move, disasters cannot shake
and time and death alone can

At a meeting of the promoters
of the Farmers’ and Merchants’
Warehouse Company last week,
Mr. B. Peterson was made tempo
rary chairman and Mr. C. E. Ba
ker temporary secretary.
After some preliminaries the sec
retary was authorized to call for 25
per cent of subscribed stock.
A building committee composed
of B. Peterson, W. O. Paxson, C.
D. Adams and T. Tanner was ap
pointed.
