promoted to office of brigadier
general during the late war, and
made a gallant officer. lie served
his people in the State legislature
before the war, and after the civil

in tin forty-third Congress, serv¬
ing in the four succeeding Con¬
gress, having been succeeded by
Judge Crisp, the present incum¬
bent. The Governor lias made a
wis selection in the appointment
of Gen. Cook, as lie is a gentle¬
man of ability and strict integrity,
and one who has ever been loyal
to bis countrymen.
Every Georgian should feel
proud of Judge Crisp, of the Third
Congressional district, for so ably
defending the rights of his party
in the House of Representatives
last week on the rulings of tyrant
Tom Rood, Speaker of the House,
Die attention of the country is
fixed upon him. lie is the best
del ater in the House to-day, and
ever exercises his powers as a de¬
bat r, when the interest of Geor¬
gia and the South are at stake.
The name of Governor Crisp
would sound good, and the name
of Senator Crisp would sound bet¬
ter. Why not bestow these titles
upon him?
