Mr. C. H. Jordan Will Talk to Our
Farmers on t lie 261 h.
Mr. C. II. Jordan, chairman of
the agricultural committee of the
Georgia legislature, and editor of
the agricultural department of
the Aalanta Journal, will deliver
an address to the farmers of this
county at the court house in East
man on Sat urday, the 2(5th day of
August at 11 o’clock.
Mr. Jordan is said to be an able
speaker, and it is earnestly reques
ted for every farmer who can to
hear what he has to say. His-top
ic will be the “Relations existing
between the farmer and the cor
mercial world,” and his talk will
no doubt consist of some valuable
information to the agricultural
class. It istiot known yet Wheth¬
er or not an attempt will he made
to organize a Farmers Institute in
this county.

The social and literary depart¬
ment of the Eastman Epworth
League was entertained last, E riday

the Hotel DeLeitch. The attend
ance was good and the evening
was one of general enjoyment.

Tin* Japanese Lecturer.
Mr. Bun Kishi, of Token, a Ja¬
panese young man who is being
educated at Emory college, lec¬
tured in the ’Methodist, church
here Sunday night to a large con¬
gregation. His discourse was
very interesting throughout, and
he received the closest attention
of every one present. He w'as
drawing illustrations between tlm
people of Japan and America, and
among other things, he said the
only difference between the wo¬
men of his country and those of
America was, that the Japai ese
women were bound two ways while
these here are bound only one
way. That Japanese women
bound t heir feet and were bound,
to get married, while theAmcri
! can women hound their waists.
But, he said, this made our women
pie resemble a lioney bee, and so
he supposed they were much sweet¬
er than the Japanese women.
Mr. Kishi is spending his vaca¬
tion in delivering (>(• tures, the
