We are glad to welcome hack in our
midst our talented young friend. Mr. S.
W. Peck, who returned some days ago
from the University of Georgia. He has
been a dose student, and was selected by
the Piii Kappa Society as one of the debu
tants at its last regular Fall Debate, which
owurred on the 20th December. Question
for debate: “ Was the execution of
Charles T. justifiable?*’ Our young friend
was on the affirmative and winning side.
In speaking of his speech, the Athens
Ceanjian pays him the following deserved
compliment: ” Ills style is clear and not
destitute of ornament. His arguments
were presented in a perspicuous manner,
evincing research and preparation.”

Dr. E. G. Murrain the well-known Den
tal Operator, of Lexington, Ga., will be in
Hartwell between the 20th and 25th to re
main for a few days. Those wishing to

We would again urge the importance of
sustaining and increasing the attendance
i pon this School. Nothing would go far
ther to building up and enhancing the
business of our beautiful town. Remem
ber this, fellow-townsmen. We are sure
the good people of the County recognize
the advantage of a thriving business centre
and a good School near home, and will use
all their influence to promote this end.

The Comity Election.
Notwithstanding the extreme cold weath
er on Wednesday, there were a fair num
ber of voters in town, and considerable
excitement prevailed. Owing to lack of
