This School opened, according to an
nouncement, with seventy-seven scholars—
a very fair beginning. We have no doubt
but that this number will be considerably
augmented before the close of the week.

W. Y. Holland has returned from At
lanta, where he has secured a position. He
will remain with us only a few- days. We
return thanks to Little Bill for late papers.
We are almost sorry that he succeeded in
Atlanta. “0, Willie, we will miss you.*’

Bridges Smith's Paper would like a cor
respondent from every town and village in
the State, briefly recounting local events,
gossip, etc. Write the editor a letter and
‘.send it to him at Atlanta, by Saturday of

This troupe will give an entertainment
in the Court House on Saturday night, for
the benefit of the Sunday School. We
have no doubt they will be liberally pat

Rev. Mr. Smith lives at the Parsonage,
instead of the house occupied by Mr. Teas
ly last year, as we stated recently. We
! were wrongly informed.
Sheriff Myers has rented the house re
cently occupied by Mr. Ira Watson, and
will move into it at an early day.
Messrs. W. I. and J. W. Reed have re
moved from Oak Bower to this town, and
will carry on blacksmilhing in their old
shop.
Personal.
c. W. Seidel, Esq., holds a secretary's
position in the Georgia Senate, which he
certainly has the capacity to fill with credit.
Rev. W. L. Fore, who has been refugee
ing in our County for sometime for his
health, we are glad to state is rapidly re
cruiting. He informs us that he has gained
twenty pounds, and his voice is stronger.
He is now engaged in building near Hon.
J. G. McCurry's, and contemplates be
coming a citizen. Quite an acquisition to
Hart County.
Our esteemed young friend, Dr. Willie
Ayers, favors us this week with his genial
presence, and is as bright and happy as a
lark —but he don't indulge in “larks,” be it
understood. He weighs 139 pounds.
Rev. Benj. Thornton has been confined
to his bed by a severe spell of sickness for
some days, but we are happy to state he is
improving rapidly.
T. W. Teasley, Esq., adds new beauty
and dignity to the firm of L. & J. T. Lin
der. A lawyer's ruling proclivities suit a
xvielder of the yard stick exactly. “ And
moreover,” “ I leave the subject with you.’
Beautiful Pictures.
We have received from the Fine Art Pul
lishing House of Geo. Stinson & Cos., Port,
land. Maine, several pictures recently pul
lished by them. The subjects, as works of
high art deserve the highest praise. Stinstn
& Cos. were among the pioneers in the Fire
Art publishing business in this country,
and year by year their business has grown,
until at the present time it has assumed
colossal proportions. Messrs. Stinson Ado
are at present in want of a large number of
new agents, to whom they offer the mist
liberal inducements. We call attentior to
their advertisement headed, ‘“To the work
ing class,” in our advertising columns,

This Southern literary paper is eminent*
