TAKE THAT! J
During the I.sst two weeks. * great many
of onr friends liavc asked ua to take " tliat
blue cross ” otf their paper, lacking said
request with tho cash. Can't others do
likewise? Don’t get mad ; we only want
to make an honest living and pay lor what
w o get. Those who are still in arrears will
please look at the crosses at the head of
this article.
DON'T KOISWET THE DAY.
The first Wednesday, the sth of Dccem
lier is the day to turn out and show by
your votes that there is life in the old land
yet, and that you are willing to stand by
the majority of the voters of Hart County
cast in tho primary election. No matter
if disappointed politicians and old fogie
tell you there is no issue before the people.
MILLKDGKVILLE
Is scattering the pictures of tho old build
ings in that burg extensively. A oil know
one of them photograph fellers can take a
picter of the shanties around the fair
grounds at Atlanta and they would look
like pnlaees. We have receded a tine pic
ter of the gentleman Durham Cor. with u
long tobacco pouch, that the smoking to
bacco was named for. That is a mighty
tine picter itself, and looks more “nntrnl "
than the halls and homes of our fathers.
There is no use sending round sich house
pictors unless the Stntc was able to give
every family one. Wo fed sorry for Mil
ledgevillc and every other ville and villian
that liain't got capital for Faro Ranks,
chuck-a-luek and sandy hollows.
A THREAT.
A member of the Constitutional Conven
tion from Franklin said a short time ago,
that if Hart County did not get the Scn
atorsbip this time, that she never would
get it again basing his idea on the faet
that Franklin being the larger and middle
county hi the District she could put her
candidate in the Held and elect him every
time. If such should ever be the case
Habersham would be fed from the some
spoon. This in our opinion is an excellent
reason why the rotation system should be
adhered to. We believo tho majority of—
* r —i** ~ * * * i _ .—* ill •**•
minded and that they will show their
honesty of purpose by pollingn heavy vote
for Mr. Hodges in December.

The Southern Senators
There is talk at Washington of an agree
ment between the Republican malcontents
and the Southern Senators to admit the
Democratic contestants from Louisiana
and South Carolina on condition that they
vote against the President's obnoxious ap
pointments. It is hardly necessary
to say that such a compact should lie
scorned by every decent man of both par
ties. and its projectors shown the door.
The right of Louisiana and South Carolina
to a lawful representation in the Senate
cannot be conditioned by the will of the
Republican majority, nor the attitude of
Democratic Senators toward the Presi
dent's appointments influenced by tho per
sonal enmity of tho opposition. —Journal
