It is a conceded fact in buying musical
instruments the best are the cheapest.
Daniel F. Beatty. Esq., of Washington,
New* Jersey, has gained a reputation equal
to any, for both Pianos and Organs and all
are recommended to write to him before
buying. Sec advertisement. (53-90
Last Saturday, Benson's cotton yard re
minded us of old Hamburg in its palmy
days—a perfect jam of wagons. The
farmers are paying up their debts, and we
look forward to brighter, happier times.
An abundance of corn, wheat, peas, pota
toes and in fact everything that is needful
for man and beast has been made this
ycar, and if the farmers won’t throw away
their time and money on a little stinking
brick-dust called guano, there is nothing
to keep them from prospering in the fu
ture.
That all arc not equally sensitive to
music is a well ascertained fact, but there
are none who cannot distinguish between
music produced on a superior and an infe
rior instrument. Mr. Daniel F. Beatty, of
Washington. New Jersey, has succeeded in
giving the public the finest toned instru
ments. both Pianos and (trgans—hence his
unparalleled success. None should buy
without consulting Mr. Beatty's advertise
ment. 65-1)0
Our I‘rivute Mall.
I.ast week we discontinued our private
mail which has supplied Elberton, Web
ster Place, Amandaville, Eagle Grove.
Bowcraville, Ford’s Store, Parker's Store
and Air Line, with The Sun on day ol
publication. We have kept up this mail
route for seven months at our own expense.
The subscriptions that have been added at
these offices do not justify its continuance.
We only proposed, at first, to continue
this private mail until the U. S. I’ostofliee
Department would put service on route
from Toccoa to this place. 'That is now
accomplished. We have a tri-weekly mail
from Toccoa. Now, if those interested will
use a little exertion to have schedule on
route from Gainesville to Elberton changed,
so as to connect at Bowersville with the
mails from this place to Athens. Or say,
leave Garnesville Fridays and return Sat
urdays, then change schedule of the route
from Carnesville to Anderson by Ford's
Store, so as to connect with Toccoa mail
at anew office to be established at Mrs.
Holbrooks’ on route from to Toccoa, every
thing will be well arranged, and at nobody’s
loss or expehse. We do hope our friends
on these routes will take the matter in
hand and have these changes made. We
would gladly continue our private route if
we could possibly make it pay expenses.
We know our friends would not have us
continue this mail at a loss.
Nothing can be fairer than Mr. Daniel F.
Beatty's mode of doing business, which
evinces his confidence in the superiority of
his instruments over all others. He war
rants his Pianos and Organs for six years,
gives from five to fifteen day's test trial,
and refunds money if the purchaser is not
satisfied. By this means his instruments
arc brought into competition with others,
and invariably come out victorious. Ad
dress all communications to Daniel F.
Beatty, Washington, Warren County, New
Jersey. See his advertisement. 05-1)0

Took a trip to Elberton on Saturday,
and as this is the first time wc have been
there in six years, found considerable
change and improvement in the place. All
the boys and girls have grown up ; got a
anew school house, two new churches,
and a tremendous big brass ball on top of
one of them. The Gazette occupies a nice
painted building with a green sign in front,
but was mellow inside. Crossed the rail
road seven times on our way there, but
heard no whistle and saw no ears. Mer
chants all complaining, but seem to be do
ing a thriving business and giving good
prices for cotton. One man bought thirty
seven hales Saturday evening. Take it all
in all our trip was pleasant.

Will imitate the example of Mr. Job
Bowers, and contribute a volume to the
Library Association? Mr. Bowers lives
near the Franklin County line, and is np
in the seventies, yet contributes a volume
for the sake of the cause. Every good
citizen of our County should imitate his
example. They need not stop to consider
whether they will receive any direct per

particular about hunting np the most use
less book in their catalogue to contribute.
Select some good, readable book and hand
it over to the Association, and it may
prove of service to hundreds of your fellow
citizens and posterity after you.

It takes ten dollars a day to run a first

spent in sending drummers around was
paid to country newspapers, in the way of
advertising, their sales would be much
larger and from a better class of mer
