THE HARTWELL SUN, HARTWELL, GA., JUNE 5, 1925
; North Georgia Club
; Boys Will Raise
; Alfalfa
• Boys throughout north Georgia
■ have signified a desire to try their
j hands at alfalfa, and they will be
given this opportunity through the
■ recently organized alfalfa clubs, ac
j I cording to G. V. Cunningham, state
_ agent in boys club work at the State
(College of Agriculture. County
I agents throughout the section of the
■ i state which is adapted to alfalfa cul
’ ture are fostering the movement and
■ giving information in regard to the
I growing of the crop.
Alfalfa is a rather exacting crop,
I say crop specialists at the State Col-
II lege, and some skill is required in
_ order to produce it satisfactorily.
■ However, if boys will undertake the
| production of this crop with the same
. enthusiasm as they have with an acre
1 of corn, or cotton, they will meet
I with equal success, they predict.
| North Georgia lands are well
1 adapted to the growth of alfalfa, as
I has been conclusively proven by the
I College, and by many farmers in this
section of the state. Under the lead-
I ership of the county agents and crop
p specialists at the State College, it
is believed that the boys will demon-
■ strate the great possibilities of this
| premier hay plant and permanently
establish it as one of the state’s main
■ money crops.
I Bulletin 217 of the State College
. of Agriculture gives complete infor-
II mation on the growth of alfalfa in
b Georgia. Club members and others
■ interested are advised to secure a
copy, which will be sent free upon
I request.
