The Service Class of the Hartwell
Methodist church held their regular
monthly meeting at the home of Mrs.
Alfred Teasley on Monday of this
week, Mrs. J. H. Vandiver and Mrs.
Emory Satterfield being joint hos
tesses. Following the business ses
sion a delightful social hour was en
joyed.
Misses Essie and Vena Brown, of
Bio, were guests of Mrs. Hettie Rich
ardson Friday.
Col. Charles Adams, of Davisboro,
was a business visitor to Hartwell
last Friday.
Mr. Fred Wilson, of Adairsville,
where he has charge of the Georgia
Railway & Power Co. office, has been
spending several days here with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. John S. Wil
son, and family.
Miss Naomi Herndon, who grad
uated from Brenau College in June,
is doing observation and post-gradu
ate w-ork at the University of Geor
gia Summer School. It will be of
interest to Miss Naomi's friends to
learn that she has accepted the posi
tion of Instructor in the department
of English in the Winder High school,
■which place was tendered some time
ago.

are visiting relatives in Atlanta.

Miss Felma McMullen, of Elber
ton, is the attractive guest of Miss
Lois Madden.
Dr. S. R. Patton killed a weasel
in his chicken yard Tuesday night.
This was the first one we have ever
seen. They are hard to see or kill. The
one killed by Dr. Patton was brown
with white breast, a rather beautiful
animal, being of the squirrel tribe,
perhaps, but with a longer tail and
body. . _

Morning Bridge Party.
An enjoyable social event of the
past week was the morning bridge
party given by Mrs. Owen Meredith
at her lovely home on Benson street,
honoring her sisters, Mrs. Roy Ams
ler, of Gainesville, a recent bride, and
Miss Nelle Poole, whose marriage to
Mr. John Hamer, of Spartanburg, S.
C., was an event of Tuesday in La
vonia.
Following a number of games a
course of refreshments was served.
Mr. B. F. Barnes, of Greenville,
S. C., was a visitor to Hartwell this
week.
Mr. Leon Morris has been confined
to his bed for the past week.
Miss Mary Matheson has returned
from an extended visit to Atlanta.
Prof. H. H. Maddox, of Sardis com
munity. visited homefolks in Winder
last week.
Schaefer Skelton and Frank Skel
ton visited their mother. Mrs. Snow-
Skelton, in Greenville, S. C., last
Sunday.
