of the executive committee.
On motion of Mr. Duffy, of Jones
county, Rev, W. 8. Baker of V/ilkin
son was elected temporary chairman
and Dr. O. C. Gibson was elected
secretary on motion of Mr. Cars
well of Wilkinson,

gation. The convention then look
a recess until 2 o’clock for dinner.
At 2 o’clock p. in., on the re-semb
ling of the convention the commit
tee on credentials reported in iavor
of seating tho Glover delegation,
headed by Dr. 0'Daniol.

for the resort, to seat
the other delegation headed by Col.
I). G. Hughes, and Mr. Duffy’s sub
stitute was seconded by Mr. Barron
of Jones. On a vole fer the substi
tute Jones voted 10 ayes and Wilk
inson 10 nays.
Col. D. G. Hughes then asked
permission to address the conven
tion, which was granted on motion
of Mr. Barron of Jone3. Col.

O’Daniel,Mr. Carswell of Wilkin
son and-Messrs. Barron and Duffy
of J-a.cs,
Mr. Barron then made a motion
to table the report of the committee,
which was unanimously carried.
Mr, Dufi'y of Jones then introduc
ed the following resolutions;
Resolved, That wo take as a pre
cedent t,bo action of the gubernato
rial convention and reler this mat
ter back to t he democratic voters
of Twiggs county to be settled by a
primary election to ho held in Sept.
11 ,
Resolved, second, That the candi
date receiving a majority of votes
at said election he declared the
choice of tho county.
Resolved, third, That we adjourn
until Sept. 1st and assemble here
at that time and nominate a candi
date for senator.
On a vote on tho resolutions
Jones county voted 10 for and Wil
kinson 10 against, but after consid
erable argument on both sides Wil
kinson changed her vote and voted
solidly lor the resolutions.
On motion of Mr Barron the Ma
con Telegraph, the Southerner and
Appeal and the Jones County
