Howard Campaign Club
Sending Out Liter¬

Letters an I circulars by whole

county from tne “Clarke county
Howard campaign club.”
This ciub is composed largely of
the opposition to Hr. Tribbie in
his race for Solicitor General
against Shackleford. Mr, A. H
Hodgson, a prominent politician of
Athens, is president of this club.
The literature sent out by tms
‘‘club?” fails to show one single
reason for Mr: Howard’s re elec

Home Happiness.
Probably nineteen tweentieths
of all the happiness vou will ever
have vou will get at home. The
independence that comes to a man
when his work is over, and lie
feels that he has run out of tne
storm into the quiet harbor, of
home, where he can vest in peace
with his family is something real.
7t does not make any difference
whether you own vour own nouse
or have one little room in that
house. You can have that little
room a home to you; you can peo¬
ple it with such moods; you can
turn to it with such sweet fancies
that It will be fairly luminous with
their presence, and will be to you
the very perfection of a home.
Against this home none of you
should ever transgress. You
should always treat each other
with courtesy It is often not so
difficult to love a person as it is to
be courteous to him. Courtesy i$>
of greater value and is a more roy
al grace than some people seem to
tnink. If you will but be courte¬
ous to each other you will soon
learn to love each other more wise
ly, profoundly, not to say lasting¬
ly, than you ever did before.—Ex
ctiange.
A Letter.
Mr. F. L. Jolly, Carnesvilla. Ga.
Dear Sir:—
7n view of the interest you
are taking m the road law of
Franklin countv, 7 would like to
have you answer the following
questions? What plan and law
do you propose in place of the
present law?
You cuculated a petition thro’
out the county, and it is reported
obtained about one thousand sig
natures. How many ot these are
women? How manv are minors?
How many are negroes? flow
many people have refused to sign
vour petition? How manv peo
pie have you gone around with
out giving them a chance to see
the petition? What per cent of
the taxable property of the county
is represented by vour petition?
Are you willing to publish this
petition in all the papers of the
county and leave the original in
the office of Judge McCay that
the public may examine it?
Will you purge the petition of
women, miners and negroes, and
furnish Hon. II. II. Chandler with
a list and a statement showing the
per cent of taxable propart y repre
sented by the remainder?
In behalf of whose candidacy
for Ordinary in 1912 are you
seeking to change the law?
These questions are being pub
Jished in every newspaper in
Franklin county, and I hope you
will make your answer as public?
Yours very truly,
A. F. J/cFablin, C, R. & It.

A Tribute To The Dead.
Sad to us and m memory
shall ever live that sad morning
of June 16th, 1910 when by the
Providential nand of death visited
the peaceful home of J; C. Wat¬
kins and took therefrom the bos¬
om friend of his heart and mother
of four little children, the young¬
est being just five weeks old the
day of its mother's death was
thirtv-two years old and has been
a member of the Methodist church
since early efiildhood. She loved
her church and worked for God.
She was always faithful not only
to her own Church bat to any
Church where she lived.
On Monday night she had a se„
vere attact of aciuta indigestion
and during her snort illness she
never complained, and s’na, her
people, uor her physician realized
that she was in a dangerous con¬
dition. In tne death of Mrs.
Watkins, the husband, children,
Chnrcb and friends sustains a
great loss, as a companion and
mother she was kind and affecc-
tionate ever rendering unto her
dear ones due benevolence, but
her works of cheering comforts
are ended. Her loving compan-
ship and tender mothers care has
been taken from her dear ones,
and blessed with the chosen of
God. Oh the loss of a dear com¬
panion and loving mother can be
felt only by those who have such
a painful trial. May the loving
hand of Cod ever uphold the be¬
reft father and companion ever
comforting him as he goes sorrow
mg through this life and help him
to raise ins dear little ones in the
fear and admonition of the Lord.
No more will the loving mother
gather her. children around her to
administer to their wants; no
more to welcome her friends to
her home. But there is one sweet
consoling thought to us when we
think of the Christian life of our
dear friend, when we think of the
seperation of loved ones under
this sad circumstance and wonder
why God lays his afflicting hand
so heavy upon us—it is hard to uu
derstand. But when we think of
the goodness ot God and know
that he is too good to err we say
“Thy Will Be Done.” She is sur¬
vived by a husband, four children,
father, mother, two brothers and
a sister.
Oh husband cheer your sorowmg
heart—
The dearest friends on earth must
part.,
Lets love and serve our blessed
Lord—
Anu wait his wiil for our rev ard.
