FRIDAY, AUGUST 20, WHO.

The sadness that hovers around us
to day is beyond our power to express
in words. Only those who have
their dear, and near relatives taken
from them bv death can realize
situation; hut the onlv consolation
that we can well take to heart is
“it was ttie hand of God and that fie
never does anything without a wise
purpose.” We mist ever submit to,
his will, let it lie what it may He

George Burnett Moore was born at
his fathers home near Antioch, in Ogle- j

1857; and died of a form of that dread ]
ed disease, typhoid fever, at his home
in J’<*()field. Geenecounty, at 4
on Saturday evening, the 14th. day
August, 1S8D. He was married to
Miss Hattie M. Boswell on the 9th
day of February, 1831, He leaves to
mourn his death, a wife,three
a mother, two brothers, three sisters,
and liis other relatives and friends.
When lie was only six years of age,
the good Lord saw lit to take his fa -
tber from this earth, and’leava us or¬

to the date of his death, he lias had
the care of a family upon himself.
We younger brothers looked upon

His life lias been one of much toil and
much caie. A< wn cast our memory
back over the past and think of our
happy days of childhood, when
wore together at the old home, it is
sad to know that we will never again
mingle our voice with his In the same
cliildisli joys. Our most pleasant days
were spent there together on our
farm —they are gone to return no
and we have only to prepare and
to mingle with happy souls of the up
per and better world.
He lias gone and left our heart
homes desolate for a time: we
not prevent it, and it may be best
we could not. Death Is the gate

lost him and our prayers are that
-heaven gained him. Among his last
words sitoken were that be “had found!
a good old Father;” and on the morn¬
ing before his death in the afternoon
lie stated to Ids wife that that “night
would lie the brightest ho ever saw
Peulleld.” Oh, that ho is now In
brighter world beyond the sun-set re
juicing as we mourn. Shall we
drown our sorrow in tho flood of light
let through the rent veil of the
which Jesus entered, and should it
not cure our loneliness to know tli at
every step brings us nearer to him and
Ills sweet eternal home, which death
never outers and where p iroings are
never knownV We may still
him, lie is ours as ever, and we

broken.
We have onlv to hope that this late

bondage, and set Ills imprisoned spirit

felicity; opening the door of immortal
happiness, returning his soul to its
own, original and glorious home; to go
no more out forever.
Oh! my dear beloved brother,
Thou hast suddenly left us In sorrow
To grieve thy departure to-day,
And . . , hope to , meet , ttie ou a bright I,,, to
morrow.
