The Itlght Policy.
Editor® Burton – Son, of our new
daily* "The Morning Call,” gave us
(ho policy of their paper Sunday
morning in reference to city politics.
It appears to Thu Skntinkl that the
article should meet the approval of
right-thinking, conservative people.
The Call said : “It shall tie the aim of
the Call to keep down strife, and in
keeping down strife to build up the
town. * * * If there is to beany
wrangling over the offices of the city,
lets keep it at home and not publish
it to the world that Cordele people
are always wrangling over a few lit
tle insignificant offices.”
Newspapers are powers for good
or evil, the latter ot which has re
cently been powerfully demonstrated
in Cordele by the now defunct Daily
Hornet, which kept our people con
stantly upstirred and on daily expec
tancy for sensational charges based
on rumor or mere hearsay.
Cordele and community can sup
port two pajiers as well as one and
by a proper support be benefited, for
the measure of the prosperity of our
town and county, is the prosperity of
onr legitimate newspapers advertis
ing the advantages of the same and
advertising the business of our busi
ness men.
So we welcome the Call and wish
it that support which will enable it
to make its morning call, while Thk
Sentinel, as for twelve years past,
will stand watching and pulling for
all legitimate Cordele enterprises
and talking for the best interests ot
the people in our town, county and
section.
The proposed combination of cer
tain Irwin county newspapers seems
to have fallen through. The first to
withdraw seems to have been the
first to suggest the combination,
and now bad faith and political
scheming is being openly charged.

Paso Palmer’s name appears at the

curious proceeding.
France seems to be incompetent of
