WHEATLEY – ANSLEY
Americus, Ga.
With the beginning of this
month we open a modern depart
ment store. We find that the
method of carrying everything growing
needed by the public is in
more popular favor daily. A con- and
centration of all these various
sundry departments under one
management lessens the expense,
and consequently lessens prices,
besides adding to the convenience
of the trade.
For the past several years we
have been carrying nearly every
thing needed in a general Dry
Goods Store. To all these various
lines we now add a first class shoe
department and a ladies’ tailor
made suit department. We are
sole agents for Ziegler Bros.’
Ladies’ and Children’s Fine Shoes
and Hanan’s – Sons Fine Shoes
for men. With our present stock
we shall be able to supply the peo
ple with practically everything
needed in Dress goods of all kinds
as well as general Dry Goods, No
tions, Ladies’ and Gents’ Furnish
ing Goods, Men’s and Boy’s Cloth
ing, Hats. Shoes, Trunks and
Travelling Bags, Ladies’ Tailor
Made Suits and Wraps of various
kinds, Childrens’Wraps, Carpets,
Rugs, Curtains and Upholsteries
—in fact, nearly everything need
ed in the way of wearing apparel
for mankind.
Our Mr. Ansley has just return
ed from the northern and eastern
markets, after an absence of sev
eral weeks, and we have made very
extensive preparations in every
department throughout the house.
Thousands of goods are now opened ar
riving daily, and being
up and placed on sale as rapidly
as received. We are now ready
for business, and we cordially in
vite the people generally to favor
us with a call, and to ever bear in
mind the fact that it will be a
pleasure to us to show you through
our stock, whether you wish to
buy or not, and to feel no hesi
taucy whatever in coming in at
any time and availing yourself
of these privileges.

MESSRS. R.S. BURTON – SON.
Purchased Printing Outfit of the Hornet
— Quad Erat Demonstrandum.
The prediction of The Sentinel
last April that a suit of clothes
could be promised, without fear
of loss, if the Cordele Daily Hor
net could be found living April
1, 1900, has been demonstrated,
even six months before that date.
Messrs. R. S. Burton – Son have
purchased the entire printing out
fit, will dress the paper in new
clothes this morning and run it
for the public good.
The purchasers are well known
in Cordele, where for several years
they published the Cordelean,
which was ever found pulling for
every legitimate Cordele enter
prise, and for the best interest of
their town. They are experienced
newspaper men, and the outfit
which has changed hands so often
has fallen into hands with a life
time experience in newspaper
work.
The many friends of Messrs.
Burton – Son welcome them back
to Cordele, and wish them well
in the publication of their new
paper, ‘The Morning Call,” which
appears for the first time this
morning.

It is estimated that 10,000 people

fairy drills, etc. South Georgia
sent large crowds of visitors, and
visitors were there from all over
the state. Excellent music was
furnished by the Fitzgerald Mili

masquerade ball was enjoyed at
the Hotel Windsor Wednesday
night.
