Cordelcans Are Reaping The
Rewards of Their Labor.
The Skntinel surprised its
ers last, week with the
ment that we nre to have
railroad, this one to run
Cordele to Hawkihsvilie, connect
mg the Albany and Northern and
and T-mn'lle
the engineering, corps having ev
erything in readiness for
the route.
Later advices are to the grati
fying effect that the work of build
ing this road is rapidly assuming
tangible shape, in that one line
has already been passed over and
a second is being surveyed for
the purpose of securing the most
desirable route. It lias been as
certained further that while the
work of locating the line is in
progress agents are in the field
on the search for five hundred or
more laborers, thus evidencing a
purpose on the part of the promo
ters to push the building of the
road to an early completion.
Giving us as it does a north-east
outlet via the important points of
Augusta and Charleston this road
gives more promise to Cordele than
might appear at first glance.
Cordeleans having labored as
one-long and continuously for her
upbuilding are now receiving “the
laborer’s hire,” and realizing the
full force of the adage that in
union there is strength, foi truly
