Mining Link ~ Gets charter The Missing Link Railroad Com pany, incorporated to build and equip a trunk line from Chatta nooga to Wulhalla, was granted a charter this morning by Secretary of State Cook. The company, capitalized at three million dollars, with all the money in hand, contemplates build ing, nh the name implies, the con necting link between the South ern, which taps the proposed line at Walhalla, and Chattanooga, where traffic arrangements have been made with the Western roads and Chicago lines. The new com pany proposes to do what has long been dreamed of—connecting the .. • South, directly with -the .West and the great grain markets. . The Missing Link Railroad will be 150 miles long, will traverse five of the richest connties in the State, open up for developpment the larg est quarries and mines in the State ard bring another great feeder for the seaboard cities of Georgia and the Carolinas. It means the in vestment of throe million dollars, every penny of which will find lodgement'in the State of Georgia. Early this morning Mr. W. L. Albright, of Ohio, and Mr. Vuulix Gibbs, o f Georgia, called at the of fice of the Secretary oi Stute and asked for tbe granting of their ap plication for charter. They gave evidence that the money had been actually secured and that all was in readiness to to begin bona fide lvorK on the proposed mammoth un dertaking. Attached to the application for incorporation are the following: W, L. Albright, Thos. F. Greer, W. E. Candler, C. J. Wclborn, Jr.. W. R. McConnell, A. A. Camp bell and Vaulix Gibbs. •‘Theroad for which we have se cured the charter will most assured ly be built,” said Mr. Albright this . morning. ‘’There is no doubt about this, as the money has been secured and all has been put in readiness for the work to begin and we have been only waiting for the charter to be secured before beginning the work, “The proposed line will run through ’the counties of Catoosa, Whitfield, Fannin, Murray and Rabun, which are rich in mineral resources and will be excellent op portunities for investment and de- .velopements. Yes, we will begin work ut ouce, |now that we have the charter, and the road will be built as .rapidly as possible. We are thoroughly satisfied with our investment and there is plenty of money to carry out and execute all that we have planned or may in the future plan.” It will be remembered that the Secretary of State has been notified that the inoorporators of the Chat- tanoogu, (Augusta and Charleston have filed application for charter for this road. By looking at the map it-will'be seen that the two roads are work- ~ ing for almost the Bame territory and connections-i-a line from the seacoast to the West. Rumor has it that the Missing Link is being backed by the South ern, which is working to get into the West and probably as far as Chiohago,-while the popular belief is that the Seaboard is backing the C , A.and 0- for a similar pur pose.—Atlanta Journal Sept, 7.
