Not long ago the wife of a West
ern Kansas politician asked him to
lay aside politics long enough one
day to dig the potatoes ill the gar
den, He agreed to do it. After
digging for a few minutes he went
into the house and said he had
found a coin. He washed it off
and it proved to be a silver quar
ter, He put it in his jeans and
went back to work. Presently he
went to the house again and said
he had found another coin. He
washed the dirt off it. It was a
silver half dollar. lie put it in
his jeans. “I have worked pretty
hard,” he said to his wife, I guestf
I’ll tako a short nap.” When he
awoke he found that his wife had
dug all the rest of the potatoes.
But she found 'no coins. Then
it dawned upon her that, she had

indorsed Col J. h. Fstell for Gov
ernor. ,v
At a special meeting of the asso
ciation the following resolutions
were unanimously adopted:
Resolved, That this association
heartily indorse the candidacy of
Col. Estill of our city for the hon
orable office of Governor of this
state.
Resolved, That this association
fully recognizes and thoroughly ap
preciates the ability, worth and
individuality of Col, Estill, and
takes this method of declaring their
confidence in him to fill tbiB high
office, not only with ability and
honor to himself, but with credit,
justice, wisdom and moderation, to
all classes of oitizensof this great
commonwealth.
Resolved farther, That iu thus
proclaiming our indorsement of
oar fellow-Citizen and townsman,
We would urge every voter who has
the interest of this state at heart to
cast his ballot for Col. Estill, feel
ing that tberby the welfare of all
classes and the best interest of ever
