There has been aw Act passed in
the state of New York, making it
a violation of the law for a man to
take a woman by the arm,, if the
woman wants help, she must take
the man by; the hand or arm.
Such a law in Georgia would
greatly increase the labor on our
public roads.

Two new bfack Smith shops in

opened a shop in North Clayton,
near Mrs. Julia Coffe y s residence.
Mr. Luther Philips, formerly
of Long Creek, S. C., has opened

a shop here for the past ten years,
is still in the business near the
depot, and the ring of the anvil
and hammer denots progress.
Dr. P. T. Noreop, of Tallulah Falls,
Ga., paid us a visit first of the week,
and brought us a present of some of his
fine apples, and,to show us how well
properly sprayed fruit will keep all
winter without the necessity of using
cold storage. These apples were from
the doctor’s Red apple Valley
orchard, near Joy flag station. It is
generally conceded by all, that this
orchard of Dr. Norcop, contains the
handsomest shaped trees of any orchard
in our county. The Dr. is an acknowled
ged expert in this line. We learn he has
leased his Red Apple Orchard to the
Howard Orchard Corporation for five
years. This will enable Dr. Norcop to
give his undivided attention to his
splendedyoung orchard at Tiger, Ga.,
where Mr. Martin Brewer is Superinten
dent. The doctor tells ns that Mr.
Brewr is already worth his weight in
gold in his orchard.
