Acting Ordinary, Thomas F.
Smith, was busy the latter part
of last week, making out. the pen
sion rolls for‘the old soldiers and
widows. There are about 50 old
veterans and 30 widows left in
the county who are entitled to a
pension of $100.00 each, and will
receive it. The legislature of 1918
passed a law allowing a class of
old soldiers a pension who have
heretofore been excluded of hav
ing one, because their holdings
amounted to mdre thltfi Iffi 500.00.
The legislature failed to make
an appropriation for the payment
as well as successive legislatures
The Ordinary has specific in
structions not to send in names
of the latter class which includes
W. T. York, W. A. Martin, Samu
el Taylcr and others, who have
made proof of service and are
entitled. The Legislature pas
sed a law that widows who mar
