Solomon said “Behold, how great
a matter a little fire kiudleth”,
and that was exemplified, last
Monday morning, when, just be
fore time for the court to con
vene, the crowd at the court
house discovered an unusual
smoke at the Clayton High School
buitdiog and gave the alarm that
the- great monster, fire, was
about to take for his toll, the
magnificient school buildings
' - Soon a volunteer brigade was
on hand and together with the
eourt visitors, citizens and school
a commendable, battle was raged
with the flames, and though at
times it seetned that the building

So many folks have been asking us what it takes
to carry tbe Bond election and as there seems to'
a bit of variation of opinions in regard to the mat
we have decided to give the law in th>* matt< r and
alt can understand what it takes to carry Bonds.
* We refer you to the Acts of 1918, page 99 eh
“Bond Elections; Number 1 of Votes.”
Section one of this Act reads as follows;

County.; You are heraby notified that

petition in the office of tbe Court of
Ordinary of aaid county requesting an
election to be held to determine the
question whether or not bonds shall be
issued by Rabun County, Georgia, for
the purpose of applying the proceeds
of the sain of said bonds to oe applied
on the construction of a hard surfaced
public road which is to extend from the
county line of the county of Haber
sham in the State of Georgia in a
Northerly direction through the follow
ing places, to wit; Town of Talulah
Fells; Ga. Lakemont, Ga; Wilev, Ga.
Tiger, Ga. Cleyton, Ga. Mountain CSty,
Ga. Dillard, Ga. and to tbe Statu line
of the state of North Carolina to

Said bonds to be issued in such de
nominations as will be beat suited to
the purchaser of purchasers and to ma
ture and be paid on the lari day of tbe
thirtieth year from the date of ftau-
ance and to bear interest at the rate of
five* percent per annum from the data
of issuance.
That a provision shall annually be
made to levy and collect aaid interest,
and said interest to be paid semi- an
nually in the sum of 94875.00 on Jan.
1st and 94875 on v Jftly 1st in each year
until the principal of said bonds shall
have been fully paid.
The total amount of interest to be
paid annually aggregating 88750.00.
That a sinking fund shall be provided
by lqvy and collecting to discharge the
principal of said bunded indebtedness
and that said sinking fund shall be
levied and collected aa follows: One
Thousand-Dollars annually for the first
ten years, Baid ten years shall begin
Jan. lit 1924 and end Dec. 81st 1988.
Two Thousand Dollars annually for
the nett ten years beginning Jan. lat
1984 and ending on Dee. Slat 1943 and

years beginning Jan lat 1944 and end
ing. Dec. Slat 1953, so that the total
amount of aaid sinking fund on the

mont Circuit to hold this term of
court.
