Child Killed By Truck
Atlanta.—Ten-year-old Foster Tins
ley, of Roswell road, was killed In
stantly by a heavy motor truck and
six other persons were Injured—two
perhaps fatally—In accidents during
the day. Those hurt are: D. V.
Moore, Dr. Charles, F. Benson, Miss
Beatrice Selig, and three negroes, W.
M. Tatum, J. M. Turner and Will Coth

Sparta.—The election for May of and
Aldermen of Sparta passed off quiet
ly. Mayor L. L. Stewart being re-elect
ed mayor for the third term without
opposition. The aldermen, four of
whom were to be elected were: W.
W. Alfrlend, Harry Blnion, E. C. Mil
ler, M. Q. Pound and G. W. Johnson
tied for fourth place. A rap-off elec
tion will be called for this week as a
result of the tie. This is the first
time In the history of this city that
such a thing has happened.

Superior Court Judges Qet Raise
Atlanta.—By unanimous vote of Ful
ton county commissioners, salaries of
the five judges of Fulton superior
court were Increased to $10,000 a
year. At the. same time the board
voted to recommend to the next legis
lature that salaries of judges of the
city court and the criminal court of
Atlanta be Increased to $10,000 a year.
This Increase Is effective October 1,
1924. This action gives Fulton county
judges a higher salary than is paid to
any other judicial officers In Georgia
and possibly in the South. In only a

Waycross And Brunswick Plans Tour
Waycross.—The Ware county cham
ber of commerce and the Brunswick
board of trade, will take an automo
bile ride from Waycross to Valdosta
and Griffin in an effort to bring
about a permanent highway organiza
tion In this section.
The delegates of
the Brunswick Board of Trade will
arrive In Waycross on May 16 and
spend the night In this city and the
next morning, will leave by automo
bile for Griffin.

Da Kalb Plans Clinic For Children
Decatur.—A county clinic for men
tally defective children to be estab
lished at Decatur has been recom
mended by the DeKalb county com
mittee on public health, It was an
nounced. Members of the committee,
of which Mrs. Floyd Field is chair
man, held a conference with Dr. W.
A. Harrison, county commissioner of
health. It is estimated that $1,000
will cover the Initial cost of the-pro}

L. Pratt of $167,000 for the power
rights of the Carter estate on the
Coosawattee river, in Murray county,

according to advices in Atlanta! Mr.
Pratt represented himself, his brother,
Dr. N. P. Pratt, and certain large east

engaged in the development of a mam
moth water power on the Coohawat-
tee river In Gilmer county.

Augusta Prepare* For Elks’ Meeting
Augusta.—More than 1,000 Elks from
all parts of the Btate are expected to
attend the annual convention of the
Georgia State Elks’ association, which
is to be held In Augusta the latter
part of this month. The convention
will be the largest gathering of mem
bers of this order the city has ever
seen. Plans for entertaining the
delegates are being mapped out by the
local lodge.
