THE HAMILTON JOUFeVAL.
PUBLISHED SEMI-WEEKLY.
VOL. XV.
EDITORIAL NOTES.
The legislature is pronounced by
the Atlanta Constitution a thorough¬
ly representative body. We think so
too.
If Stanley is or was half as black
hearted as some of the newspapers
paint him, his finding the heart of
Africa was only a matter of gravita¬
tion— of water seeking its level.
The legislature will probably hold
over to the Piedmont fair. It will
afford the members an excellent op¬
portunity to confer with all their con¬
stituents without going home to do
SO.
The New York Herald, in a large
number of published interviews with
prominent democrats, demonstrates
the fact that President Cleveland is
wonderfully popular with his party.
As their first successful leader in
twenty-four years, he ought to be.
The Columbus Enquirer nomination puts ex
Govertior Bullock in as a
good second on the Hayes ticket. In
our opinion Hayes and Bullock would
be about the hardest ticket to beat
that it is within the power of the * re¬
publicans to nominate.
The state road is entitled to no
privilege not accorded to other rail¬
roads. If there are railroads enough
in the state, then let the legislature
refuse to grant more charters. If it
is best to have more roads, then a
charter ought not to be refused only
because the proposed road might af¬
fect the business of the state road.
Our position is that th; state ought
to control all the railroads within its
borders; it ought to own none.
A public speaker recently assailed
the position of the Journal upon
the inter-state railroad bill, but our
position is so clearly understood that
we are willing now to wait and see if
it wi^l not be sustained by time. As
our assailant was advocating a good
cause, despite this law which he
claims as its. work, we see nothing to
be gained in a controversy with him.
Any measure calculated to
the farmers of this section will meet
our approbation. We cannot be benefit- see,
however how they are to
ed by a law that promises to build
them up only as it pulls down the
factories adjacent to us.

The “Farmers Alliance” organized
at this place by Mr. J. B. Wilkes of

About three months ago. noticing a letter
and ressed to you in the Bee from Gen.Sie
vm, in reference to the cure of his son by
the use of Hall’s Catarrh cute, we were
iuduced to commence ti e use of it for our
daughter Nel'ie now 14 yeans old. who has
been suffering with eatrrrh for about eight
years, during winch tune she has been
treated by one of the best physicians in the
city. We have also tried the use of almost
all known remedies for oativrh, with no
moresuccess than temporary relief Mvnv
nights have we laid awake to hold In-r
mouth open to keep her fro u strangling.
Her heai ing also had become affected. We
were afraid that she would never recover
We nave now used 0 bottles of Hall s Ca
tarrh cure, and we believe Nellie to be en»
tirelv cured. In a few days a* ter commen¬
cing the use ofit we noticed a decided
change for the better, and from that rigut
along she has improved, until now she
breathes as easily as any one. Site sleeps
well and her hearing is perfectly good.
We write this unsolicted letter, feeling that
it is due yon,and with the hope that others
may he benefited in like manner. We could
hardly realize that such a change could be
effected in so short a time alter battling
with the disease so long. We still use the
remedy at intervals, as it seems to build
up her system. You are at liberty to uee
this in any maunei you see proper.
We are yours truly,
