The press on which the new Journal is
to be printed was shipped fiom Atlanta
last Thursday. It was to have been ship¬
ped ten days earlier, but was unavoidably
delayed. When it arrives we shall give
our readers the best country weekly in
the state.
Since the above was in type the press
has arrived and the Journal will appear
next week in its nor form.
Wedding Hells.
Sunday afternoon Rev. W W Arnold
united in the holy bonds of matrimony
Mr Jus Huff and Mbs Mattie Armstrong,
at the residence of Mr Henry Armstrong,
the bride’s father. Both young people are
residents of this county and a host of
friends unite in wishing them a life of
great felicity.
Oeatli of An Old Citizen.
Mr Welcome Dukes, an old and highly
respected citizen ot this county, died at
bft home east of Hamilton Monday, lie
had consumption ami are confined to his
room several weeks befoie his death. He
was a member of the church, and his loss
is deplored by his family and friends. II is
remains were interred at the cemetery on
Tuesday.
The West Ga. A. &, M . College.
The fall term of the West Georgia A &
M College opens Monday. The weather
is pow pleasant, and if the parents will
enter their children at the very beginning
of the term the teachers can sooner get
organized and ready for the regular rous
tiue of school work. It will tie an advan¬
tage to the pupil too, and most encour¬
aging to the instructors to havo a full
opening. Parents, think of this, and
send in your children bright and early
Monday morning.
The Heading Circle.
Since its organization the Reading Cir¬
cle has not had a more pleasant meeting
than the one held at the residouoe of Mr
B C Kimbrough last Friday evening. The
spacious parlor was tilled to its capacity
witu pretty girls, ham some young men,
and others o! maturer years, representing
the best element of Hamil¬
ton society. Several visiting young
ladies were preset and by their charming
presence and conversation added much to
the enjoyment of the occasion.
Orange Hloasoin*.
Mr W D Wisdom, of Chi ploy, and Miss
Jessie L Butts, of Barnesville, Ga., at the
residence of the bride's father in the lat
ter city, at 10 a m, were joined in the
holy bonds of matrimony, Rev Mr Gard.
nor officiating. After hearty congratula¬
tions from numerous friends the happy
couple departed on the Griffin bound
train via Warm Springs for Chipley. They
arrived at Chipley at 0 p in, where a re- j
ception was tendered them at the resi¬
dence of Mr R L Burkes. The bride is ;
an accomplished and intellectual young {
lady and has many friends in this section.
She finished her studies at Gordon Iusti
tnto ibis spring. The groom is a popn’ar
and worthy young man, very energetic
in business. He is general manager of
R Spivey’s branch house here and ably
fids his position* He has been extreme¬
