^ The friends of Mr. T. P. Hutchin¬
son have tried to prevail upon him
to run for legislature, buthe absolute¬
ly refuse to do so, claiming his time
is*of to much value too his farm.
At last our city fajhers have fully
ecognized the former bad system of
axation. They come to the front
and make equalization of taxes.
JTheir system is similar to state tax,
taxing both personal and real estate.

near this place, is very sick. Dr,
Riley of your city, came to see her
last Sunday.
We are sorry to say nearly all the
fruit is killed. If the blackberries
are plentiful this season, we will not
suffer.
Mr. W. M. Stuckey has the best
young mule in our settlement.
We have had a protracted rain in
this section and Mountain creek is
very high.
I hope our readers will go out to
hear R. H. Jackson president of the
state alliance, on Saturday 31 st.
