church this evening. She is one of
the most eloquent and effective

Five Bridges Washed Away.
Monday and Tuesday were as wet
days as we have had in these pa;is in
a long time. The rain began Sun¬
day afternoon and closed Thursday
morning, but the wettest days were
Monday and Tuesday, when if there
was any cessation of steady rain we
failed to note it. As a consequence
streams throughout the county were
very much swolen. In fact they
were as full as the national treasury,
The damage done in the county is
large. Oa tne head waters of the
Mulberry, near the Talbot county
line, there was a washout on the
Georgia Midland.
Five bridges have been reported
washed away to Judge Hudson, the
chairman of the board of commis
sioners. These are as follows: The
bridge at Shippey’s mill near Mrs.
Kate Moss’, the Huling bridge on
the road from Mountain Hill to West
Point. the Mitchell bridge across the
Mulberry, the Walker bridge across
the same stream and tne bridge
across the Ossahatchie on the Co*
1 urn bus road.
The Dove Hunt.
! Wednesday morning, according to
previpus arrangement, the huntsmen
pf^Hamilton met on the farm of Mr.
li. C. Jones, about two miles east of
town for a dove hunt. The place
had previously been baited and about
day break the birds began coming in
and the sport began. At first the
birds came unwarily to their doom
and nearly every shot told, but later
they were shy and harder to hit. Be¬
low we give the record:

Baby Bunting Again.
One of the greatest literary hits of
of the season is the story of “Baby
Bunting ; or, the Alphabet of Love,”
by Laura Jean Libby, which is at
present being published in the coL
umns of The New York Family Sto
ry Paper. The paper containing the
opening chapters of this wonderfully
popular romance appeared on the
news stands this morning. The tre~
mendous rush for that number by
the young ladies of the town shows
clearly that the publishers have
struck a bonanza. The Family Sto
ry Paper is for sale by all newsdeal*
ers, or will be sent to any address
four months, postage free, for $1.00.
