Hood's Enreka is without a rival io the
treatment of ah these affections. Such is
our confidence in the preparation compound that we
challenge all competitors to
anything equal to it. Wherever tried it
has given unbounded satisfaction,and our
challenge is founded upon the experience
of intelligent patrons.
No remedy acts so delightfully and effec¬
tually as a household remedy
as Hood’s Eureka.
Db, Hood— Rear Sir.—I have been us¬
ing your Enreka in my family for the last
three or fonr years, and I regard it as a
very efficacious medicine. It has often
effected almost immediate relief to our
children when they have been suffering
from oomplaints incidental to the young.
We are never without it, as we desire to
have it always on hand in case of need.
Yours truly, Thob. Gilbert.

said board, as a branch College in

lature.
The building is a strong, commodi¬
ous and imposing structure, completed
in 1884. at a cost of about $10,000.
It comprises six study rooms, with
spacious chapel and ante-room on sec¬
ond floor. Being provided with mod
ern furniture, selected with a view to
the comfort and convenience of the
pupils, is well arranged and finely ad¬
apted to the purpose in view, It is
situated upon a spur of the Oak moun¬
tain. From the observatory of the
building the beholder commands a
thrilling and most delightful view of
adjacent country for miles and miles
away. These features, together with
the pretty forests and ornamental
shade trees surrounding it, render it a
most attractive place, inviting to study
and meditation.
The institution has now a very fuU
and able faculty. President H. A.
Hayes, a young man of fine parts, is
a graduate of Hiawassee college,
Tennessee. He is an enthusiastic
worker, looks well after every de¬
partment, and is laying deep and
wide the foundations for a career of
usefulness. In Prof. W. R. Vance,
of Shelbyville, Ky., and Miss Lillie
Stradley, in the literary department,
and Mrs. B. C. Kimbrough, in the
music depart :tr: he has assistants
who would buy institu¬ i

A Card.
In the columns of ihe Journal
can be found the names of a number
of good men who ore candidates for
Tax Receiver of Harris county.
Among the number the name of J.
D. Ely appears. The democrats of
Harris county are under obligations
to Mr. Ely. He is competent, faith¬
ful and honest. He left a limb on
the battle-field in defense of his coun¬
try, and in later years for the good of
his party he surrendered all prospects
of being elected to an office in Harris
county so long as the republican par¬
ty had a voice in naming the officers.
This fact is well remembered by all
the voters of Harris county of fifteen
years ago. The democrats now for
the first time have an opportunity to
reward him for his services, and they
should do so, as he did more for the
success of the party than any other
man. Democrat.

A ltcautiful JMsplay.
The exhibit of shoes by J. S. Har¬
rison . is one of the handsomest of its
kind on the grounds. The general ar
rangments are exquisite,and shows the
work of an artist of no mean preten
lions. The cener is adorned with a
handsome stand of shoes, showing in
the best possible manner the exquisite
workmanship of Messrs. Bennett &
Barnard’s fine shoes and slippers for
ladies, and Messrs. Harrison’s ‘‘Rock¬
land” men’s fine shoes. These goods
are the best on the market, and Mr.
Harrison makes Bennett & Barnard
and the “Rockland” shoes a special
feature of his business. The exhibit
is so complete in every detail that it
would require consideiable space to
do it justice. Those who would see
a picture of rare beauty should not
fail to see the display.
Broke His Arm.
Late this afternoon Claud Liv
ingston, the eldest son of Mr. J. R.
Livingston, while playing with a
piece of machinery in the Journal
office, got his arm broken. It was
at once set by Drs. Riley and Wil
Hams and at last acccounts he was
doing as well as could be expected.
From the Herald of Faith, Ft. Louis,Mo.
August 10, ’87.
Referring to Flialler.berger’s Ant'dote
for malaria, the but-incas manager of the
Herald of Faith would say, that he gave
this medicine a personal trial, and was
speediiy cured of an unpleasant Intermit¬
tent Fever. He recommended it to F. J
Tiefenbaum, 1715 Papin street, and to
police < fficer Meidenger, at the Union de¬
pot, 1) >tk of whom were by it of chills and
lever of several years standing. RecentL j
his wife, after a fevei of several days duva
tion, took a single dose and was perfectly
cuied. In view of these remarkable cures
and remembering how much money is
spent f >r quinine, so little to be depended
upon, and otten so injurious, we ran only
wi-b that Sballenberger’s Antidote would
ci-rne into general use.
