EDITORIAL NOTES.
Rftpnblieans are becomin g a little
unwasy lest their own plans will prove
their own defeat in the future. The
old proverb is appropo, “Whom the
Gods wish to destroy they first make
mad.’’
Judge James Patillo is the agent
for the H. W. Grady memorial vol¬
ume in Harris county. This will be
a book in which all Georgians will
take a delight in reading and at the
name time contribute to the help of
the Grady family.
It seems that the question of where
shall the World's Fair be held will
defeat the fair altogether. It is try
iug to be run as a party machine. If
tills l«t the programe it on^ht to be
killed in congress.
Henry county, Indianna, gives a
republican majority of 1.700, and yet
this is the eonnty in which a mol) rid¬
dled a negro with bullets and no in¬
vestigation has been had, no how 1 of
indignation from the negro-phihsts,
and even senator Ingalls has round
nu lling for which a committee might
be appointed. What is done north
is right if done by republicans.
Farmers should plant large crops
of con and small grain. Do not re¬
ly too much on cotton because o* the
success of last year. It may not be
bo this. The Grange and the Alli¬
ance are both strong in the county
and with tne two we hope farmers
will make all supply crops.
Humor says that ,one McCacle, a
colored man is now in Washington, a
candidate for governor of Okabdioma.
i bis project is being encouraged by
Boiue leading republicans in Kan.us
believing that if a negro is appointed
governor of Okalahoina it will draw
the negro out of K msa<. This shows
111* love of the republican for the col¬
ored man. Se at nr Ingalls would
doubtless favor their plan as he*is de
notinced by color-d republicans nor h
as a negro hater.
