New Bridge At Barnes’
Ford.
1 he work on new bridge at the ford
at Mr. O. S. Barnes mill has come
to a sfsnd-still lor the past week or
more, awaiting arrival of some more
cement for the cast end pier.
But, my, that bridge. It is to be no
squatty, temporary affair, but, as a
kiddie remarked, just like a railroad
bridge. Six high, well-built cement
piers w ith a ‘24-foot span across the
bed of the crock, liberally reaching
above high water mark, with treated
timbers that will stay with the struc¬
ture for years.
This ford has been an annoying
eno from the dawn of civilization in
this neck-o’-weeds and we who have
so frequent occasion to cross there cer¬
tainly carry a swelling place in our
bosoms for the commissioners who are
putting up such a handsome, substan¬
tial bridge.
